Can someone please put the information for the other weight categories on this page? It only has the winner, rather than the other competitors. Thanks. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 23:17, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

I'll take care of it. But there's that 3rd middleweight robot that no one knows the name of. What should we do about that? Also, regarding Armakillo, there's a bit of confusion over its name. JP called it Armakillo, but the captain called it Armadillo. Who takes precedence? RA2; aka Resetti's Replicas 23:36, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Take what the captain says. JP often makes mistakes in his excitement. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 23:41, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Heats B and D[]

"Out Of Order: Heats B and D of the second Wars were swapped round when broadcast, this is obvious when the heat winners are introduced in the semi-finals in heat order and Mace (winner of the broadcast Heat B) comes out 4th and Behemoth (the winner of the broadcast heat D) comes out second."

Has anyone heard this statement before? TG (t c) 04:09, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Challenge quality uploads?[]

I've just looked on my Sky box and it seems Series 2 will be available to download. So is it possible for challenge quality uploads of this series? It's all the episodes and will be available to download up until 30th March 2017. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 18:07, July 15, 2016 (UTC)

Maybe we should ask Jimlaad43 if he could have a look at it. StalwartUK 18:31, July 15, 2016 (UTC)
I'll send him a message.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 06:29, July 16, 2016 (UTC)
I don't always have to get the episodes, other people can do it as well. As this isn't recording off a TV it's not as restrictive as the other ones. Jimlaad43(talk) 07:26, July 16, 2016 (UTC)

Robot Wars Revealed[]

On the website of Team UK Robotics (The team that entered Rottweiler and Constrictor), there was a video of edited highlights of "Robot Wars Revealed", a show that featured more behind the scenes footage and interviews from the show. The video link no longer works on the archived page, but thankfully someone has put it on YouTube ([1]).

According to the More Panda Monium website, Robot Wars Revealed was shown exclusively on BBC Choice (later known as BBC Three) [2]

Does anyone have any more information about this show, because when I did a search, all I could find other than that were articles about the new series such as "Celebrity special competitors revealed" and "New Robot Wars presenters revealed." Drop Zone mk2 (talk) 14:00, January 2, 2017 (UTC)

http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/search/0/20?adv=0&q=Robot+wars+revealed&media=all&yf=1923&yt=2009&mf=1&mt=12&tf=00%3A00&tt=00%3A00#search Found this on BBC Genome (Radio Times listings catalogue) Robot Wars Revealed was first shown on BBC Choice at 17:30, Saturday 16 October, 1999.--Voyanuitoa (talk) 15:06, January 2, 2017 (UTC)

In that case, we basically have enough content to make an article. What leads me to hesitate, though, is this. Can we be certain this was a one-off? It seems strange to me that the video we just watched, focusing on Rottweiler from King Buxton's heat, was the only one. ToastUltimatum 15:57, January 2, 2017 (UTC)
At the end of the aforementioned clip, Philippa Forrester does say 'join us next time', which is the strongest evidence I can find that proves that Robot Wars Revealed was a series rather than a one-off special. Further reinforcing this is the fact that the Robot Wars 101 website mentions that it was scheduled to start on 8th November 1998, so could there perhaps be more episodes that have yet to appear in cyberspace? All of this talk is very interesting... a Robot Wars spinoff we never knew existed! Vampireweekend4ever (talk) 01:42, January 3, 2017 (UTC)
Could somebody try and see if they can get any audience viewing numbers? I tried the BARB website but you need an account.--Voyanuitoa (talk) 09:36, January 3, 2017 (UTC)
The EyeEye Robots website mentions it as well. Vampireweekend4ever (talk) 01:46, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

Lots of new information from Team B! As King Buxton took part in Heat I of Series 2, Simon Harrison had access to the full version of the episode uploaded by Rottweiler's team, which is now available to watch on their Facebook page! Team B seem to imply in the comments section that there were more of these, I think we have enough information for an article. Any volunteers to write one? TOAST 23:09, February 20, 2017 (UTC)

With credit to Tinweb once again![]

So, I stumbled across a page on the Tinweb website which detailed the robots that would allegedly be competing in Series 2. To get to the page, you need to do the following:

  • 1: Click this link.
  • 2: On the main menu, click on the "Media" button.
  • 3: Click on "Round up of the 1998 TV Event".
  • 4: At the bottom, click on "Series 2".
  • 5: Click on "possible entrants in the next series".

So, we have some cool images of some robots that need them. Lateral Thought has an unpainted image, for example. There are also some robots that, as far as my knowledge goes, we have yet to have any information about. They include:

  • Armageddon, a robot with a wedge.
  • Armourdillo, who has no connection to Armadillo. Dubbed a "compact" machine, Armourdillo was still lacking its armour during rehersals.
  • Blade Runner, which I believe has no connection to Toe Cutter. Equipped with a lifting arm.
  • Destructor, a robot armed with a cutting arm powered by a McCulloch chainsaw.
  • Hairy Six, potentially showing that Jim Struts was not the only walker attempting to enter Series 2. Six legged machine.
  • Harm, a rare superheavyweight. Weighed 91kg and covered in checkerplate.
  • Hawkeye. Not much information on this one, Adam Clark states it might have entered Series 1 under a different name.
  • JackBot, which I believe has no correlation with Automatic Jack. It was armed with an aqua-jack, which is used to lift patients in hospitals.
  • Medi-Junk, another medical-themed machine. Cylindrical with interchangable arms to allow for spikes or scoops to be equipped. Looked "quite slow" according to Adam Clark.
  • Spike. who I am not sure has a connection with the Series 3 competitor.
  • TimberWolf, a robot with tracks powered 8HP Briggs and Stratton. Praised by Adam Clark.
  • Twister, dubbed "a clone of Blendo".

Also, it is said Judge Mech was intended to compete. We know who Judge Mech is, but if this website is right, it was planning to enter Series 2 at the same time as Pain. Leighbot was stated to be at rehersals.

In addition, I have re-discovered Ripper's long lost website (note to all: if you have a team's website, please link it in the bloody article. I wasted a couple of hours tracking down websites that some inexplicably already had access to). There is also a section on Tinweb dedicated to Armadillo.

So, over to you now Diotoir. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 22:14, October 14, 2019 (UTC)

There's an "Rehearsals" page as well https://web.archive.org/web/19990225142113/http://www.tinweb.com/robot/rehearsal/ which is basically a confirmed list of Series 2 auditions. Expect Series 2 F2Q articles! Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:48, October 15, 2019 (UTC)
Great stuff guys. TOAST 14:23, October 15, 2019 (UTC)
Hairy is definitely gonna be the first one I wanna do :P It's name alone and the design is enough for me to fall in love with it.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 14:26, October 15, 2019 (UTC)

So here's some images from the Killerhurtz website: https://web.archive.org/web/20000306080541/http://www.johnreid.demon.co.uk/rehearsal/index.htm Also I've noticed on both websites that it's refereed to as "Rehearsals" and not auditions, this is made further by the fact that the Killerhurtz website called the Series 3 events as "auditions" while the Series 2 ones as "Rehearsals" Just something I've noticed. Caliban Melee and February 1999 events (Grudge Matches II/World Championship)[]

On the subject of unaired/partially-aired Series 2 events, this is a topic I've wanted to bring up here since reading Caliban's page on the SCOOT website a while back.

  • First off... do we know what happened to the six-way melee which Caliban was apparently intended to take part in? The only other thing we know about this fight was that it reportedly took place during the original late-August 1998 filming block, more specifically Thursday 20th, which I presume was when taping of the other Grudge Matches took place. It's also interesting to note that Team TFOSICA refer to this as a 'six-way' fight, whereas the only televised non-championship melees - the Internet Insurrection and Reserve Rumble - had only four or five robots at max. Which begs the question... was Caliban's fight filmed, if it ever took place at all?
  • Second thing I want to address is the reference to the planned February 1999 events that, to my knowledge, ultimately never came to be. Not only do Team TFOSICA suggest that these included additional Grudge Matches, but also an early attempt at the World Championship that would go on to become a staple of the Classic run. Were other UK competitors informed of this plan, and if so, which ones were looking to take part in that as well? Which international robots would the organisers have invited along that time?

So far, the SCOOT website is the only reference I've found to either of those events anywhere on the web. Of those, there's a stronger chance of Caliban's six-way happening considering that Team TFOSICA introduced their scheduled events in the present tense, and were on record as saying that Caliban would 'do really well' in it. Would it surprise me at all if that - plus the February 1999 events - joined the long list of unaired, unfilmed or cancelled events from the Classic run? VulcansHowl 14:39, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
