Weight[]

I find it really hard to believe that Scarab was only 100kg. Why would you build a walkerbot and keep within the usual weight limit when you have 200kg to play with? Also, it appears to me that Scarab had very strong and thick fibreglass armour which I imagine would take it over the 100kg mark. Do you think the factsheet was wrong or did they really only build a 100kg walkerbot? Christophee (talk) 13:48, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

It will be hard to find out, but it could be 100kg becuse of its relatively small size or something. ManUCrazy 16:07, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Walkerbot or Shufflebot?[]

This has been bugging me for a while now. We know that Scarab is a walkerbot, and we also know it is very lightweight for a walkerbot, but what I wish to know is, is it a true walker, or is it a shufflebot? And if it is a shufflebot, then that also begs the question of when the shufflebot rule was actually accepted into Europe? Because if Scarab is actually a shufflebot and if the rule was introduced at that point, then that would mean that Scarab was not actually a middleweight at all (albeit it'd still be very very light for a heavyweight). Hm, now that you mention it, those cogs inside look a lot like a camshaft. Yeah, it was probably a shuffler and would have been capped at 100kg. RA2; aka Resetti's Replicas. (My Talk) 19:24, February 14, 2013 (UTC)
Why would it be capped at 100kg? Even if the shufflebot rule was applied, wouldn't it be allowed 150kg? Christophee (talk) 19:43, February 14, 2013 (UTC)
I had a quick re-read of the RW & BB rules, it turned out that both competitions took the entire weight advantage away for shufflers. When David Hall said that Drillzilla got a 50% weight advantage, he was talking about Battlebots. I've updated the walkerbots page accordingly. RA2; aka Resetti's Replicas. In that case, the 100kg cap for Scarab is a compelling argument, except for the fact that Ansgar was able to compete around the same time, and indeed later, well over the 100kg limit. Is this just inconsistency on the part of the producers? Christophee (talk) 22:50, February 14, 2013 (UTC)
Probably; the S6 rules definitely mention that camshaft-driven bots don't count as wakers. RA2; aka Resetti's Replicas. (My Talk) 23:38, February 14, 2013 (UTC)
