Zorro and Ming Die Nasty

We all wonder why Andrew entered Series 7 with two subpar machines insteaqd of sticking with Ming 3, and today I found out the answer. Quite simply, he wanted to tout his new product, the RobotsRus kit. It's a heavyweight robot kit that you can buy in pieces, or as a whole unit, the entire thing costing 1825 pounds. He built his two combat robots from the kits (With modifications of his own, of course) Take a look: http://web.archive.org/web/20031121182408/http://www.robotsrus.co.uk/ That purple robot with the flipping arm was the kit advertised, and you'll notice that it was in fact the base used for both Zorro and Ming.

Although it's quite interesting to see a former Robot Wars roboteer on TV, I'm not sure this particular appearance is really relevant to the wiki, as it has nothing to do with robot combat. Robogeddon

Bottling Plant Event

As you may have seen, Andrew Cotterell is organizing an event at The Bottling Plant, his pub in Plymouth, talking about his time on Robot Wars, on Wednesday 20th. Is anyone going to this event? Plymouth is a bit far for me to go, and I didn't hear about it in time to book time for a holiday that week. If anyone from the wiki is going, it would be a good chance to find out more about Team Ming.

Here are the top 3 unanswered questions;

1. How did Tim Hurdle join the team, and why did he leave after one series?
2. Why did Team Ming enter two robots into Series 7?
3. Is the rumour that Dominator 2 was supposed to be in Ming DieNasty's Heat, then pulled out and gave the seeding to Ming true?

I would definitely have loved to have gone, but Plymouth is ridiculously far for me to travel to. I don't know if anybody from the Wiki or URW are attending, but I'm hoping that someone that goes, even if they're not a casual fan, can record the event and Andrew's talks that he's going to give. I'm curious if he's going to bring out the other Mings, Zorro and maybe one of the RCVs because in the video he did say he'll be bringing out the ROBOTS, meaning more than one.

Sadly, I really can't see casual fans asking these questions as they're not deep into the show like us and as for people unfamiliar with the show and are attending out of curiosity...well. Still Andrew will probably give us a ton of previously unforeseen information, if in fact footage surfaces, which I'm keeping my fingers crossed for.

I share your sentiment, RobotManiac. I'd certainly like to attend, but I don't live anywhere close to the Plymouth area, so transportation is not practical for me. VulcansHowl 10:59, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
