Not to be confused with the UK competitor Triterobot.

"The Prehistoric One-Man Army!"
— Stefan Frank

Tricerabot was a competitor robot that fought in both seasons of Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors. It was eliminated in its heat in the Season 1 US Championship, but finished runner-up to defending champion Panzer Mk 4 as Tricerabot 3.0 in Season 2. It also competed in the Season 1 Tag Team Terror and Robot Rebellion competitions, with reasonable success.

For Extreme Warriors, teams were encouraged to decorate their robots with stylish and flammable decorations in order to entertain the audience. Team Juggerbot obliged by decorating both versions of Tricerabot in paper bags (Season 1) or cardboard (Season 2) for most of its battles. The team were also dressed as prehistoric cavemen/cavewomen in Season 1, in keeping with the robot’s dinosaur theme.

Tricerabot was intended to participate in Nickelodeon Robot Wars, however the robot could not be repaired after the US Championship Grand Final, so Team Juggerbot captain Mike Morrow entered with the loanerbot Tut Tut instead.

"We didn't compete in the alternate events because we spent most of the week in the main tournament. As soon as the final battle was over, we started repairing immediately so we could use TriceraBot 3.0 in the Nickelodeon shows. Unfortunately, we weren't able to rebuild all of our motors in time so we used a RW loaner 'bot (Tut-tut) for the Nick event."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[1]

Versions of Tricerabot[]

Tricerabot

Tricerabot in Season 1

Both versions of Tricerabot were four-wheel drive robots designed for ramming, which were converted versions of the team's BattleBots entry Juggerbot 2.0 and Robotica entrant Juggerbot 3.0 respectively. They both proved fast, powerful and durable, capable of ramming opponents effortlessly as well as lifting, turning them over or even causing damage to exposed components, especially an opponent’s wheels. However, the robot’s high ground clearance made it susceptible to being lifted and flipped over itself, which proved to be its main weakness in the Season 2 US Championship.

Both versions were armed with a set of front ‘piercing horns’ as its main weapon, though a rear flipper was added for Season 2. These consisted of a set of five ramming spikes - three metal spikes mounted on the robot’s chassis, two on a front plate resembling the frill of a triceratops - which were intended to ram and get underneath opponents, sometimes even toppling them over. The metal spikes were detachable, and could either be positioned pointing straight from the robots front, or diagonally down. When in the diagonally down position, the team referred to the spikes as "gravediggers"[2]. In some battles, the team used two spikes, and in others they used three.

"The internal steel combat chassis is designed to focus the brunt of the propulsion systems directly into the main battering ram while being reinforced by the drive frames and armor. Each wheel is housed in its own formed and welded steel space frame, much like a modern unibody automobile."
— Team Juggerbot website on the robot's design[3]

The robot had a steel chassis made of welded square tubing. Torsional stiffness was provided by the inner drive module mounting plates and by the upper and lower armor plates. The robots were powered by a single direct-drive motor with asealed gearbox for each wheel. The motors were built for the team by World Class Motor systems, as the team wanted to guarantee the motor was strong enough[4].

Tricerabot was a brown box-shaped robot with four-wheel drive, with spikes on the front, and one spike on the rear. The robot’s top armor was covered with paper bags shaped to resemble a triceratops’ back, adding to its theme, which was meant to catch fire when the robot was driven over or near flame hazards, such as Sgt. Bash's flamethrower. Juggerbot 2.0 was a six-wheel drive superheavyweight, but for entry into Robot Wars, the robot was converted into four-wheel drive, with upgraded power systems[5].

"New and improved, with a pneumatic flipper that can lift over 700 pounds, and he's got battering rams and a big, mean spike!"
— Stefan Frank introduces Tricerabot 3.0

For Season 2, Team Juggerbot entered an upgraded version of Tricerabot, known as Tricerabot 3.0. It featured new front ramming spikes made from titanium and optimized to puncture tires and negate wedges, as well as a rear pneumatic flipper which was capable of operating either way up. The robot also featured a new flammable front panel and top layer made out of cardboard.

The top was much lower than the decorative top on the original Tricerabot, allowing it to run inverted. These were removed for the Grand Final of the US Championship, as Team Juggerbot wanted to ensure that they would not cause Tricerabot 3.0 to break down during the later stages of the competition. Despite the changes, the weight was exactly the same as the original Tricerabot.

Etymology[]

Tricerabot’s name is a pun on ‘triceratops’, a genus of herbivorous dinosaur, along with 'robot'.

Tricerabot was one of two robots entered by Team Juggerbot, the other being Rosie the Riveter. Mike Morrow, Nicole Morrow and Ron Ender competed with Tricerabot, with Mike Morrow being the team captain and driver. For Extreme Warriors Season 1, the team dressed as cavemen to match their robot's theme, but in Season 2, they instead wore simple shirts with their robot's logo on them.

"Costumes: We toned it down this year, leaving the furs at home (it was chilly in an open studio in London in January!)"

Robot History[]

Season 1[]

"I'm Mike Morrow, leader of Team Juggerbot, and today we've brought our most fearsome robot, Tricerabot!"
— Mike Morrow in the team's introduction

Tricerabot fought in the US Championship, where it was drawn against The Revolutionist, Skullmania, Bot-Ugly, Unibite and Sobek in its Heat. Before the battle, Skullmania was forced to withdraw due to irreparable technical difficulties, and was replaced by Coffin-Bot, a loanerbot lent to Team Sylvan Lake Robot Warriors.

Rebecca Grant: "All right, we have Tricerabot. This team means..."
Mike Morrow: "(Snatches the microphone off Rebecca mid-sentance) We're ready to get primeval on these people with our titanium gravediggers! And our secret weapon, the wicker cornucopia of death! And, when worst comes to worst, we break out the Nor!"
Ron "Nor" Ender: "Nah! Into the Ring!"
— Tricerabot's introduction before Round 1
Tricerabot on top of Sobek.

Tricerabot drives on top of Sobek

Tricerabot started by charging at Bot-Ugly, ramming into one of its wheels. Sobek drove into the back of Bot-Ugly, and The Revolutionist reversed, backing across the arena. Tricerabot then drove at The Revolutionist, pushing it against Refbot. Tricerabot then reversed and turned away, driving down the arena after The Revolutionist. The Revolutionist drove over the flame pit, past Coffin-Bot, and Tricerabot stopped chasing, reversing. Tricerabot then charged at the back of Sobek, climbing on top of it. The weight of Tricerabot caused one of Sobek's rear tyres to slip off.

"And Tricerabot jumps up on his cousin, the purple croc, and he rips one of his wheels off! Well that's gonna definitely slow down the purple croc from any forward progress!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot drives up on Sobek
Unibite slams into tricerabot

Tricerabot takes a hit from Unibite

Sobek reversed to try and get Tricerabot off, and when this didn't work, it raised its lifting arms, which lifted Tricerabot, allowing it to reverse off Sobek's top. Unibite drove at Tricerabot, and Tricerabot turned to face it. Tricerabot got at Unibite's side and rammed it towards the top of the arena, then drove away down the arena, driving into the back of Bot-Ugly, which appeared to have stopped moving. Tricerabot then charged across the arena at Unibite, which turned around and drove at Tricerabot as it closed in. Unibite rode up Tricerabot's front, over the side as it hit it with its spinning disc, ripping off one of the horns.

"Oh, Tricerabot drops in with those little wicker horns, and tries to do a bit of damage on Unibite!"
Stefan Frank as Tricerabot charges into Unibite
Rev vs tricerabot

Tricerabot is pushed back by The Revolutionist

As Tricerabot turned, The Revolutionist charged between it and Unibite, ramming into Unibite's side. Tricerabot changed targets, driving into The Revolutionist, but The Revolutionist reversed and drove away up the arena. Tricerabot drove at the immobile Coffin-Bot and Bot-Ugly, but Unibite reversed at it, so Tricerabot tried reversing to avoid it, although Unibite still slammed into it in reverse. However, Unibite broke down, so Tricerabot drove away. The Revolutionist rammed Coffin-Bot down the arena into an empty CPZ, and Tricerabot charged at The Revolutionist as it drove away from the CPZ, but The Revolutionist kept driving, causing Tricerabot to miss its charge. The Revolutionist turned and charged at Tricerabot, ramming it backwards, but Tricerabot was able to push back, so The Revolutionist reversed. Tricerabot then drove at the immobile Bot-Ugly, but briefly became stuck on one of its pincer jaws, until it was able to reverse off. Tricerabot then charged at The Revolutionist. Sobek was in the way, but Tricerabot was able to drive over one of its rear wheels. As it did so, it fell on The Revolutionist, but The Revolutionist was able to get out from under Tricerabot, and drove around the floor flipper to the front of Tricerabot.

"Well those two right there, Tricerabot and The Revolutionist look like they've done the best in this round!"
— Stefan Frank in the last few seconds
Revolutionist Tricerabot

Tricerabot is forced back late on

It tried to push Tricerabot, but Tricerabot pushed back so it reversed, then pushed against Tricerabot's side. Tricerabot drove forwards, and The Revolutionist reversed. Tricerabot reversed, then drove down to the flame pit. Just before time ran out, The Revolutionist rammed into it. Cease was called, and with Tricerabot and The Revolutionist the only robots still fully mobile, the Judges were called to make a decision. Unfortunately for Tricerabot, they chose to put The Revolutionist through to the Semi-Finals, eliminating it from the US Championship.

Paired with Team Juggerbot’s other machine, Rosie the Riveter, Tricerabot also fought in the Tag Team Terror tournament, facing Drillzilla and loanerbot Tut Tut, the latter of which was entered by Team Raptor, in the first round.

Drillzilla vs Tricerabot

Tricerabot is pushed onto the flame pit by Drillzilla

Tricerabot went out first, against Tut Tut. Tricerabot started by turning away from its opponent and driving down the arena, but as Tut Tut drove at it, Tricerabot reversed past it. Tut Tut drove at Tricerabot, getting under the front corner, but before it could attack, Tricerabot drove around it and turned. Tut Tut turned, and Tricerabot drove up the front, then reversed back down, Tricerabot turned around to use the rear spike, but as it reversed at Tut Tut, Tut Tut turned to avoid it. Tricerabot drove forwards for another attack, but Tut Tut reversed up the arena to tap Drillzilla. Drillzilla drove across the top of the arena, and Tricerabot charged at it, but Drillzilla was too powerful for it to push, and it forced Tricerabot back, into the top arena wall.

"Now the walker - twice the weight of Tricerabot – just gonna have his way with him because he’s got too much power for those boys!"

Rosie the Riveter enters the fray without a tag

Tricerabot managed to push back a little, and the two struggled to gain an advantage, which the pushing match drifting towards the flame pit, where Drillzilla managed to turn Tricerabot onto the flame pit and push it over the flames. Tricerabot tried pushing back, but didn't have enough power, and as it tried pushing Drillzilla back, it failed to get off the flame pit before its decorations caught fire. Rosie the Riveter came out of its corner illegally, getting behind Drillzilla and pushing it, causing it to push Tricerabot off the flame pit. Due to the rule-breaking, Sir Killalot came out of his CPZ, using his lance to knock the burning decoration on top of Tricerabot loose. Drillzilla and Tricerabot continued to struggle against each other, pushing back and forth, whilst Sir Killalot chased after Rosie the Riveter, grabbing it with his claw and picking it up, for which he received a red card. Drillzilla reversed away from Tricerabot, and Tut Tut also came out of its CPZ.

"Tricerabot is in flames! Tricerabot is burning uncontrollably, in a Dinosaur barbeque fashion! And it's a free-for-all! They're all in it now! Everybody jumping in there, trying to get the last word!"

Matilda overturned

Matilda after being overturned

With all four competitors out at once, Tut Tut pushed against Rosie the Riveter, and Tricerabot tried charging at its opponents, but Rosie the Riveter reversed into its path, causing it to ram into its side. Matilda came out of her CPZ, reversing into Tut Tut, then Rosie the Riveter. Tricerabot drove around Rosie the Riveter and Matilda, bumped into Tut Tut, but then drove past it. Drillzilla pushed Rosie the Riveter into the arena wall and pinned it there, and it was attacked by Matilda's flywheel, which merely ground against the side. As Matilda reversed, Rosie the Riveter managed to turn and reverse away from the wall, but drove into Matilda, so quickly drove away. Rosie the Riveter fought Tut Tut whilst Tricerabot was fighting Drillzilla at the bottom of the arena. Tricerabot tried to ram Drillzilla, but Drillzilla turned to dodge Tricerabot, and Tricerabot crashed into the bottom arena wall. Tricerabot turned around, and suddenly charged at Matilda, getting underneath her side and tipping her over.

"Serves her right, nobody went into her corner, she shouldn't even have been out there!"
— Stefan Frank after Tricerabot flipped Matilda

Sir Killalot used his claw to lift Matilda back onto her wheels, then chased after Tricerabot. Sir Killalot soon caught it and grabbed its back in his claw. He then pushed it to the edge of the pit, but instead of pushing it in, Sir Killalot lifted it up and spun it around, throwing it aside, straight into its Tag Team partner.

"There's a blatant disregard for the rules in this round, they've all gone in there, and it looks like Tricerabot's the first to pay the price!"
— Stefan Frank as Sir Killalot grabs Tricerabot
Tut Tut vs Tricerabot

Tricerabot is pitted

Tricerabot drove at Tut Tut, but Tut Tut pushed it down the arena. Drillzilla was pushing Rosie the Riveter, so Tut Tut pushed Tricerabot into Rosie the Riveter. Drillzilla pushed the two opponents together, and Tut Tut helped by pushing Tricerabot as the two opponents were close to the pit, but Rosie the Riveter drove over Drillzilla. Tricerabot pushed back against Tut Tut, but Drillzilla blocked it and pushed it to the edge of the pit, and after lining itself properly, pushed Tricerabot into the pit.

"This is a Tag Team free-for-all! Look at that, Refbot has lost total control of any semblance of order! And here we go, the pit is open, and Tricerabot is the first down!"
— Stefan Frank as Drillzilla pits Tricerabot

Drillzilla then went after the remaining opponent, getting under the side and pushing it into an angle grinder. Time ran out and the battle went to a Judges' decision, and Drillzilla & Tut Tut were the clear winners.

Mick Foley: "Hey, now I've seen The Wizard of Oz seven times - once the guy catches on fire, that's supposed to be it! That would be like if The Wicked Witch didn't melt! The water goes on, she's gotta go, but that darn car just kept on going!"
Chris Harriman: "It wouldn't quit! We had to just keep pushing and beating on it, and pushing and beating on it, and finally we got it in the pit, and that made it quit!"
— Mick Foley and Chris Harriman discuss Tricerabot in the post-battle interview

Tricerabot and Rosie the Riveter were therefore relegated to the playoff for third place. There, they faced loanerbot Joker and Falcon, with Rosie the Riveter and Falcon starting first this time.

Rebecca Grant: "See, maybe you guys put too much time and effort into your costumes, than your performance out there!"
Chris Gattman: "Oh, no no! I don't think so! We got tossed around, and chewed up, we stayed in until the end, Mike's robot was on fire, but he didn't have a problem driving out of the ring, we didn't have a problem driving out of the ring."
— Pre-battle interview with Chris Gattman of Rosie the Riveter, discussing the team's performance in Round 1

Tricerabot rams Joker

Falcon landed a couple of weak axe blows on Rosie the Riveter, which was moving slowly. Falcon returned to the CPZ, and Joker came out, its drum spinning. As Joker drove at Rosie the Riveter, Tricerabot came out of its corner, ramming into Joker, knocking it backwards.

"Well, it looks like rules were meant to be broken again, because Joker jumped right in there without a tag, and Tricerabot's going to try and make him suffer for it!"
— Stefan Frank
TricerabotandRosieRamFalcon

Tricerabot and Rosie the Riveter ram Falcon

Tricerabot drove into Joker, stopping it spinning, then pushed past it. Falcon came out of its corner, and Tricerabot drove up the arena, slamming into it, whilst Rosie the Riveter drove into the back and pushed. As Tricerabot drove back down the arena, Falcon got some distance on Rosie the Riveter and turned around, hitting it with the axe. Rosie the Riveter got behind Falcon and continued pushing, and Tricerabot drove back up the arena, ramming into Falcon's front a couple of times. Tricerabot drove around to Falcon's side, and pushed it against Joker. Tricerabot continued to push Falcon, whilst Rosie the Riveter drove into Joker. Rosie the Riveter pushed Joker into the wall by Sgt. Bash's CPZ, and Tricerabot pushed Falcon into the wall beside it.

"And there goes Bash! They all went into the Corner Patrol Zone, which gives Bash the freedom to go out and thrash! But the only one doing any serious thrashing here is the Tricerabot boys!"

Sgt. Bash came out of his CPZ, driving between Falcon and Tricerabot. Tricerabot reversed, and Falcon drove at the side of Rosie the Riveter, hitting it with its axe, but then Tricerabot rammed into Falcon's side, pushing it against Joker. Whilst Rosie the Riveter pinned Joker against an angle grinder, Tricerabot reversed. Falcon turned to face Tricerabot, and Tricerabot rammed into Falcon again. Rosie the Riveter kept Joker pinned against the wall, whilst Falcon moved away from the wall, and Tricerabot rammed into its front again. As it did so, Falcon hit it with the axe, but this had no effect. Tricerabot reversed, and charged back at Falcon, pushing it back. Falcon turned, exposing its side to Tricerabot, and Tricerabot rammed into it. Falcon turned to face Tricerabot, and Tricerabot rammed Joker into the wall. Meanwhile, Joker had broken down at the side of the arena. Tricerabot reversed away, and Falcon drove away from the wall. Tricerabot rammed into it, pushing past it and ramming into Joker. However, as it did so, Sgt. Bash was waiting, and roasted Tricerabot with his flamethrower, and Tricerabot's decorations caught light.

"Sgt. Bash is trying to make Tricerabot the sacrificial barbecue lamb again! And the flaming Tricerabot tries to run off, and maybe blow off some of those flames!"

Three robots finish in the pit

Refbot pushed Tricerabot and Rosie the Riveter apart, and Tricerabot reversed up the arena, driving into Shunt, but got away before he could attack. Tricerabot charged into Falcon, which was barely moving, and rammed it onto the edge of the pit. Tricerabot drove away and pressed the pit release button.

"Well I tell ya, Tricerabot is doing everything. He’s crashin’, he’s bashin’, he’s just set the pit open. This boy’s on fire…literally!"
— Stefan Frank summarizes Tricerabot’s dominant performance

As the pit descended, Tricerabot drove around the pit, and gave Falcon a final push to finish it off. Tricerabot then went after Joker, pushing it away from the wall whilst Refbot counted it out. As Refbot's count hit 10, Tricerabot pushed Joker to the edge of the pit, and Shunt rushed over, axing Joker. Shunt reversed, and Tricerabot rammed into Joker, trying to push it into the pit. Joker did not fall in because Falcon was in the pit, so Tricerabot gave it another push, but in doing so, it fell in as well.

Mick Foley: "You'd call yourselves winners if you'd spent more time on your robot instead of your uniforms, which are very impressive, things may have turned out a little better!"
Mike Morrow: "I don't think it would turn out much better, we had a lot of fun, and we burned a lot of stuff and broke a lot of things!"
Ron Ender: "And we ended up with two of their machines in the pit, I mean, can't beat that!"
— Post-battle interview

Finally, Tricerabot fought in the Robot Rebellion. In its eliminator, it faced The Green Mouse, a loanerbot controlled by Team Katana as a replacement for their robot Shuriken.

Rebecca Grant: "Guys, I just checked out the competition, let me tell you something, The Green Mouse is like something you would wear!"
Mike Morrow: "Yeah, but I think they're gonna be the only robot in the arena that's on fire more than we are!"
Rebecca Grant: "That might be so, but how do you think you're gonna stack up against them?"
Mike Morrow: "I think we're gonna hit 'em straight on with this. (Shows the spike) And after we've taken him out, we're gonna sweep him around on the arena, whatever's handy; the flipper, the fire, the House 'bots, we'll let them have their way with them!"
Rebecca Grant: "Which House Robot do you want to get primeval on?"
Mike Morrow: "I think Sgt. Bash! Maybe we'll let him flame up on Green Mouse, then we'll take care of him!"
— Pre-Round 1 interview
Green mouse vs tricerabot

The Green Mouse flips Tricerabot

Tricerabot drove forwards, but as The Green Mouse drove at it, Tricerabot turned and drove down the arena. It drove close to Dead Metal's CPZ, who came out of his CPZ and rammed Tricerabot, causing a small part of the decoration to fall off. Dead Metal reversed, and Tricerabot drove towards The Green Mouse, but drove past its opponent, then turned around and reversed at it with the spike. However, as it did so, it drove straight onto The Green Mouse's lifter, which lifted it up. Tricerabot slipped off, then reversed into The Green Mouse's side with the spike. The Green Mouse fired the flipper as it got close, and Tricerabot held back for another charge. The Green Mouse turned around, and Tricerabot got its rear spike at the side of The Green Mouse and rammed it down the arena, slamming it into the pit release button.

"The Green Mouse, with that lifting arm, can't really get in any good position to use it, but Tricerabot's pushing The Green Mouse right into the pit release! And the pit's going down, there's the siren! Maybe, mousetrap's been set, but the battle's still on, so it's anybody's game here!"
— Stefan Frank
Tricerabot vs The Green Mouse

Tricerabot turns The Green Mouse over

Tricerabot sped up the arena, and The Green Mouse turned away from the wall, nearly driving into the pit. It drove to the arena centre, where Tricerabot rammed into it in reverse with its rear spike. The Green Mouse turned back and forth as Tricerabot reversed up the arena for another charge. The Green Mouse turned to face Tricerabot, and the two robots charged at one another, but The Green Mouse turned a little too far and fired the lifter the wrong moment, allowing Tricerabot to get underneath, turning it onto its side as it rammed it, then pushing it onto its back.

"Look at the air off of that thing! Oh, the mouse up on its side, Tricerabot - beasty brutal pushing!"

Tricerabot rammed The Green Mouse onto the flame pit, and as the fur burnt, Refbot counted it out. Dead Metal grabbed The Green Mouse and pulled it off the flame pit, and Tricerabot rammed it a few more times with its rear spike. Shunt pushed it onto the floor flipper, where it was thrown over. The House Robots surrounded The Green Mouse, with Dead Metal and Shunt attacking it. Tricerabot rammed into The Green Mouse as Dead Metal pulled it towards the pit. The Green Mouse slipped out of Dead Metal's grip, and Tricerabot rammed into The Green Mouse, driving between it and Dead Metal. Tricerabot reversed, then rammed The Green Mouse into the pit.

"It's a sad situation here, for The Green Mouse boys, as Tricerabot gets one more last dig, and puts the mouse into the trap!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot pits The Green Mouse

Tricerabot was therefore through to the Final.

Mick Foley: "How do you feel? You just devastated young Evan here, you gotta feel proud of yourselves!"
Mike Morrow: "Well you know, we're all friends outside of the ring, but once you get in the arena, young or old, it's to the death!"
Mick Foley: "And I gotta give you credit, unlike some of our other robots here, you didn't need the House Robots' help to put Evan's Green Mouse in the pit, you did it all by yourself! Set it aflame and then just destroyed it!"
Mike Morrow: "You know it's too bad that the House Robots want us to try and pick on each other before they take us on. It's like they can't take us straight up!"
Mick Foley: "Pretty strong words, and I've got a strong accusation for you! See before I started wearing flannel, I wore fur vests! Have you been breaking into the Foley house by any chance?"
Mike Morrow: "No I haven't!"
— Post-battle interview

There, it teamed up with loanerbots Silver Box and Tut Tut, and Rosie the Riveter to face Shunt and Matilda. For the Final, the team added a set of flammable bars to its back in an attempt to set fire to them, as did Rosie the Riveter.

Rebecca Grant: "See that tunnel [to the arena]? There is no turning back! It is time to get even with the House 'bots! We have the best of the best roboteers behind me, and are we gonna kill them or what guys?!"
Roboteers: "YEAH!"
Rebecca Grant: "Do we got a strategy?"
Roboteers: "MAYHEM!"
Rebecca Grant: "Let's turn 'em into junkyard scrap!"

Tricerabot attacks Matilda

Tricerabot immediately drove down the arena and rammed into the side of Matilda. As it pushed, Matilda reversed around Tricerabot and turned to try and use her flywheel. The flywheel ripped off some of the rear bars, but Tricerabot drove away before she could do any real damage. As it did so, it bumped into Refbot, but turned and reversed away from it, driving up the arena. Matilda drove across the arena, and Tricerabot charged at her, ramming into her side, but as it tried pushing, Matilda turned, hitting the front of Tricerabot with her flywheel, flipping it up and causing some of the decoration to fall off.

"...and there's Tricerabot, trying to get on the wrong side of Matilda! You don't want to do that! No way!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot takes on Matilda

Tricerabot reversed as Matilda attacked Rosie the Riveter, then tried driving at her, but Matilda turned, nearly getting her forks under Tricerabot. Tricerabot tried to reverse, but Shunt was behind it. Shunt pushed Tricerabot, pushing it against Rosie the Riveter as it drove around Matilda. Tricerabot was pushed against Rosie the Riveter's wings, which fell off and became stuck on Tricerabot's front. Shunt pushed past Tricerabot, which turned and drove away to the floor flipper, whilst Tut Tut attacked Shunt. Tricerabot turned around and drove at the back of Shunt, pushing it against the top arena wall. Shunt reversed, and Tricerabot turned and drove away down the arena, with Shunt chasing after it.

"This could be a huge upset! Whoah, these four on two, I mean you would have never thought that the House Robots would take this much punishment!"
— Stefan Frank

As Shunt closed in, Tricerabot turned to face him, but Shunt changed targets, driving past Tricerabot and attacking Rosie the Riveter. Tricerabot drove around Tut Tut, but Matilda drove towards it, so Tricerabot reversed. Matilda turned around as Silver Box drove at her, and as Matilda tried using her tusks, Tricerabot reversed into her back. Silver Box dodged the tusks, getting at Matilda's side, and Tricerabot reversed away. Matilda reversed and turned away, and Tricerabot charged at her, getting under her rear and pushing her against Silver Box. This lifted Matilda up against Tricerabot's front, and as Silver Box turned away, Tricerabot was able to topple her onto her side.

"Matilda's up on her side! Let's look at that again - OH! What a lucky break for Tricerabot, blindsided Matilda! She wasn't waiting for that one!"

Tricerabot vs shunt

Tricerabot rams into the side of Shunt

Whilst this was happening, Shunt also lost mobility following an off-screen axe blow by Tut Tut.[7] Tricerabot rammed into the side of the immobile House Robot repeatedly, but suddenly, Sir Killalot entered the arena in a cloud of smoke. Tricerabot drove down the arena to hit the pit release button as Sir Killalot drove at Silver Box, grabbing its front with his claw. Sir Killalot tried to pick Silver Box up, but as he did, Silver Box slipped out of his grip. Sir Killalot chased it to the top of the arena, where he got hold of it again. As he did so, Tricerabot rammed into his back, but this did not stop him picking up Silver Box and carrying it down the arena.

Tricerabot and Tut Tut edge Sir Killalot into the pit

Tricerabot drove at this side as he did so, but this did nothing to stop Sir Killalot carrying Silver Box to the pit. However, as he stopped to try and drop Silver Box in, he overbalanced forwards. Tricerabot quickly took advantage, ramming into his back, toppling Sir Killalot onto his front. Sir Killalot dropped Silver Box into the pit, with his claw dangling inside the pit. With Sir Killalot using the front of his tracks to hold onto the arena, he struggled against Tricerabot as it tried to push him into the pit. In the last few seconds, Rosie the Riveter drove into Sir Killalot's side, and Tricerabot kept pushing, but Sir Killalot managed to hold on until time ran out. ‘Cease’ was called, and no winner was declared by the Judges, although Mick Foley considered the battle to be a ‘great moral victory’ for the competitors.

Mick Foley: "Now I've got to admit, I thought you guys foolish with those furs on you, but right now, you're looking mighty impressive!"
Mike Morrow: "Think again! I have one thing to say: Sir Killalot has left the building!"
— In the post-battle interview

Unseen on television, in order to prevent Sir Killalot going into the pit, the pit was raised a little whilst Sir Killalot was on the edge.[8] Even with this, Mike Morrow would later confirm that the competitors successfully pitted Sir Killalot in another untelevised portion of the full 5-minute battle.[9]

"The final match was truncated (ie they didn't show when the pit was raised back up to aid Killalot's precarious position) to help downplay the pounding that we gave the housebots."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum

Season 2[]

"Besides destroying things, we're on a quest for fire!"
— Mike Morrow in the team's introduction

Tricerabot 3.0 competed solely in the US Championship, and appeared in Heat F. In the first round, it fought two newcomers, Brawler and Diskotek.

Carol Grow: "Well your first round, you're going to be against Diskotek and Brawler."
Mike Morrow: "Yeah, actually, right now I've got Ron readjusting out weapons configuration to deal with those robots. We're looking to puncture some tyres, puncture some armour. We've got a titanium spike here to deal with tyres. We've got a gravedigger here, that will allow us to avoid the ramp, any ramp that anybody has. One challenge that we're gonna see is that all these robots in this match are gonna be invertible, we can all work equally well inverted, so it's not gonna be real easy to just tip somebody over. Which we could do, with our tail that we've now added, which is new since last season."

Tricerabot 3.0 and Diskotek attack Brawler, preventing it from spinning

At the start of the battle, Tricerabot 3.0 held back as Diskotek rammed into Brawler. Tricerabot 3.0 then sped down the arena, charging at Brawler as it spun, but Brawler hit the side of Tricerabot 3.0, sending it spinning aside. Diskotek drove at Tricerabot 3.0, but Tricerabot 3.0 drove away, driving between the two opponents, then held back as Diskotek turned around and attacked Brawler with its disc. As Brawler turned to attack Diskotek, Tricerabot 3.0 drove across the arena, driving into Brawler's spear, but quickly turned and drove past. Brawler hit Diskotek as Tricerabot 3.0 turned around for another attack. Brawler drove towards it and began spinning as Tricerabot 3.0 tried driving around it. Tricerabot 3.0 turned and gave Brawler a little push, then reversed as Diskotek rammed Brawler. Diskotek attacked Brawler with its disc, pushing it up the arena, but when Tricerabot 3.0 drove past it, it reversed towards it. Tricerabot 3.0 rammed into the side of Diskotek, but reversed away as it turned to use its disc. Diskotek turned and hit the disc of doom button, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove towards it, but drove away as Diskotek approached with the disc. Before Diskotek could chase after Tricerabot 3.0, Brawler charged at it, getting its spear under Diskotek's wedge. Diskotek drove away, but Tricerabot 3.0 rammed into it with its rear flipper, getting underneath and lifting it off the ground, then rammed it into the arena wall. Tricerabot 3.0 lowered the flipper and let Diskotek go, and drove away.

"...now Tricerabot is having a little go, right after Diskotek, and Diskotek smartly gets out of it!"
— Stefan Frank as Diskotek gets away from Tricerabot

Tricerabot 3.0 rams Diskotek into the arena wall

Diskotek drove down the arena, and Tricerabot 3.0 reversed at Brawler, trying to get its rear flipper underneath, but only managed to get the flipper under the spear, lifting it up a little. Brawler slipped off and moved away, but Tricerabot 3.0 turned and reversed at Brawler again, and this time it got underneath, lifting Brawler up, and reversed, turning Brawler over. As Brawler drove away, Diskotek charged at Tricerabot 3.0, but Tricerabot 3.0 got its rear flipper under Diskotek and lifted it up, so Diskotek rode over its top as Tricerabot 3.0 drove down the arena. Tricerabot 3.0 rammed head-on at Diskotek, and managed to push it back into the arena wall. Diskotek pushed back, and Tricerabot 3.0 reversed. Brawler charged at Diskotek, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove to the arena centre, then charged at the two other competitors as Diskotek turned and drove away from Brawler, as smoke was rising from it, due to its primary weapon motor having inhaled a lot of metal shavings[10]. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed at Diskotek with its lifter raised, and used the flipper to help push it to the edge of Dead Metal's CPZ.

"And now Tricerabot gets underneath Diskotek. Tricerabot definitely with all the power in this round, but the little Brawler is holding his own, and there's smoke coming out! It doesn't look like Diskotek has got much more left with all that smoke!"
— Stefan Frank
Diskotek vs Tricerabot

Tricerabot 3.0 holds Diskotek in the CPZ

However, as Dead Metal tried to get his pincers around Diskotek, Diskotek pushed back against Tricerabot 3.0, getting under the flipper and back wheels, so Tricerabot 3.0 reversed up the arena. Diskotek drove after it, but as it drove into Tricerabot 3.0, it drove up the flipper, then rode over the side. Tricerabot 3.0 sped down the arena, slamming into the pit release button, then reversed up to the top of the arena. Diskotek got underneath Brawler with its wedge and rammed it into the wall, then reversed up the arena. As it did so, it drove close to the pit. Tricerabot 3.0 drove away as Diskotek got close, and after turning around, reversed into Diskotek, pushing it to the arena wall.

"Tricerabot's got it all here - a lot of power! Let's see if they can put Diskotek or Brawler in the hole!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot 3.0 rams Diskotek

It tried to use the rear flipper, but Diskotek turned as it pushed, therefore it fell off the flipper, causing Tricerabot 3.0 to miss. Tricerabot 3.0 quickly lowered the flipper, and rammed Diskotek against the wall, getting its flipper underneath, then pushed it against an angle grinder. Diskotek rode up onto Tricerabot 3.0's top, then drove over the top. Tricerabot 3.0 tried driving after it, but drove into an angle grinder, and Brawler charged into its side, so it was forced to reverse and turn away. As Brawler fought Diskotek, Tricerabot drove into the side of Dead Metal's pincers, but quickly reversed away. Meanwhile, Diskotek pushed Brawler down to the bottom of the arena, against the arena, and tipped it on its side, leaning against the wall. It was stuck there, until one of the House Robots knocked it off the wall, although this moment was not included in the televised battle.

"At some point (off camera), Brawler was wedged up against the arena wall, helpless. If, at this time, Disko and TB had headed over there and ran interference against the HBs until Refbot counted him out, we could have both had an easy win. But, I didn't see Brawler's predicament until a HB was already tipping him down and back into the fight. Honestly, it wouldn't have mattered. By this time I had one goal: pit Diskotek."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[11]
Tricerabot vs Diskotek

Tricerabot 3.0 wedges under Diskotek

Tricerabot 3.0 drove between Diskotek and Brawler, ramming into Diskotek, getting its front under Diskotek and rammed it across the arena into Shunt's CPZ.

"Tricerabot is fighting it out with Diskotek, and Shunt pulls the axe down! What a great battle!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot 3.0 rams Diskotek into Shunt

Tricerabot 3.0 drove to the arena centre as Diskotek quickly got out of the CPZ, and Diskotek charged at Tricerabot 3.0, but Tricerabot 3.0 fired the flipper, causing Diskotek to drive over the top. However, Brawler was driving at it, and as Tricerabot 3.0 tried to avoid it, it nearly drove into Shunt. Shunt narrowly missed an axe blow as Tricerabot 3.0 turned around and charged at Diskotek, with help from Brawler. Together, the two pushed Diskotek towards the pit, but the two stopped short of the pit, leaving Diskotek by the edge. Tricerabot 3.0 drove away, and Brawler tried attacking it with its spear, so Tricerabot 3.0 pushed Brawler with its flipper. Meanwhile, Diskotek started spinning as Tricerabot 3.0 and Brawler had rammed it to the edge of the pit, and soon two of its wheels went over the edge, causing the whole robot to fall in. As it did so, Brawler turned away from Tricerabot 3.0 as it was pushing it, and Tricerabot 3.0 nearly drove into the pit as well, managing to stop itself before it went in and drive out.

"I wanted to flip him to confuse his sense of direction. This would become one of my favorite {sic} moves: Flip someone over, open the pit, and drive them in or let them drive themselves in during the confusion of partial control reversal. It worked and Diskotek spun into the pit, with some help from both TB and Brawler."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[12]

As a result, Tricerabot 3.0 went through to the second round along with Brawler. However, Tricerabot 3.0's chassis had become badly damaged during the battle.

"As soon as the match was over, I could see something was wrong. Peering down from the control room through the smoke, I could see pieces hanging off TriceraBot 3.0. MAJOR structural pieces- battering rams....lifter supports.... It looked bad and it was bad- very bad. We had pretty much fought hard and fought brutally- and the chassis paid the ultimate price. Almost every weld was cracked or broken. We spent the next 24 hours drilling and bolting every structural member. The titanium modular drive cradles became structural weldments, holding the chassis together instead of visa-versa. I pretty much figured if the thing survived the first impact of our next fight, we'd be OK. Otherise, it would explode into a thousand pieces in the arena."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[13]

There in the Heat semi-final, it faced another newcomer, King of Diamonds.

"These guys had like 1/2" aluminum sides or something. In the first round, they had blown a 4QD controller and we waited an extra day while they got a new one locally. Electronics problems like that always catch my attention. Statistically, there was a chance that they would blow another controller during their match against us if we stressed their motors hard enough. Without any hope of puncturing anything vital, we planned to push them around and keep on their weapon so it couldn't run up. Between stalled weapon and drive motors, maybe we could fry something internally. Lifts would be done whenever the conditions warranted. The only thing worse than an impervious 'bot is an invertable 'bot. This was both."
— Mike Morrow describes how he felt about fighitng King of Diamonds on the Robot Wars Forum[14]
Tricerabot 3 vs King of Diamonds

King of Diamonds is overturned by Tricerabot 3.0

Tricerabot 3.0 started with its rear flipper facing King of Diamonds, and drove at King of Diamonds. However, as the two robots got close, King of Diamonds started spinning on the spot, preventing Tricerabot 3.0 from getting underneath. King of Diamonds hit the side of Tricerabot 3.0's flipper, and the rear corner, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove past and turned around. King of Diamonds stopped spinning, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove at it with the flipper, getting underneath and flipping it over. King of Diamonds was invertible, so drove away down the arena, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove down the arena after it. King of Diamonds stopped by the pit, and Tricerabot 3.0 rammed into it, but King of Diamonds bounced off. Tricerabot 3.0 turned and charged at King of Diamonds, but King of Diamonds started spinning, deflecting Tricerabot 3.0 aside as it charged at it. Tricerabot 3.0 quickly turned around and drove at King of Diamonds again, but King of Diamonds swerved to avoid it, and pushed against Tricerabot 3.0 with its rear spikes.

"King of Diamonds' chance is not gonna get up to speed if Tricerabot's strategy is in order here. They definitely wanna get in there before that thing gets up to speed or else it might tear Tricerabot a new horn!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot 3.0 rams King of Diamonds
Tricerabot vs King of Diamonds

Tricerabot 3.0 lifts King of Diamonds into the wall

Tricerabot 3.0 reversed down the arena, and the two robots turned for another charge. The two robots drove at each other, and although Tricerabot 3.0 got at the side of King of Diamonds, it failed to get the flipper under the side. It pushed King of Diamonds towards the wall, but King of Diamonds turned before it could ram it into the wall. Tricerabot 3.0 drove forwards to line up another charge, and King of Diamonds tried to drive away, but drove into an angle grinder. Tricerabot 3.0 charged at King of Diamonds, and King of Diamonds reversed at Tricerabot 3.0 as it did so, but this allowed Tricerabot 3.0 to get the flipper under the side and lift it up. Tricerabot 3.0 pushed King of Diamonds around in a circle, then slammed it into the disc of doom button. King of Diamonds stopped moving at this point, and Tricerabot 3.0 got the flipper under the back and lifted it up, though could not turn it over. Tricerabot 3.0 drove forwards, dropping King of Diamonds, then reversed at King of Diamonds, flicking it up with the flipper again.

"Tricerabot with that lifting arm, 700 pounds - of power! Let's see if he can get him up and out of the arena, definitely having the dominant force here, Tricerabot!"
— Stefan Frank

King of Diamonds suddenly regained mobility, reversing away from the wall, straight at Tricerabot 3.0. Tricerabot 3.0 tried to get the flipper under King of Diamonds, but King of Diamonds turned to avoid the flipper. Tricerabot 3.0 turned and pushed against King of Diamonds, trying to push it onto the disc of doom, but King of Diamonds turned away, and Tricerabot 3.0 reversed into the disc of doom, its flipper hitting the teeth on top. Tricerabot 3.0 drove away up the arena, but the impact had bent the flipper down, lifting the two front wheels off the ground.

"At one point a speed run ended abruptly when the lifter slammed into the floor disk teeth. WHAM! I didn't realize it at the time, but that impact bent the lifter down and we almost had the front wheels off the ground whenever the lifter was down. ... Chasing down KOD, I cornered him against the arena wall and made a feeble attempt to lift him over the wall. About this time we realized that the lifter was bent and proceeded to develop a technique of firing the lifter up to do precise 4WD maneuvering, then dropping it for a straightline attack."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[15]
King of Diamonds vs Tricerabot

King of Diamonds struggles with mobility issues

As King of Diamonds drove to the bottom of the arena, Tricerabot 3.0 slowly drove down the arena, driving around Refbot. Tricerabot 3.0 drove into the pit release button whilst King of Diamonds drove into the arena wall, close to Sir Killalot's CPZ. As Tricerabot 3.0 drove at King of Diamonds, King of Diamonds started spinning, but stopped spinning as Tricerabot 3.0 got close. Tricerabot 3.0 tried getting its flipper under King of Diamonds' side, but King of Diamonds started spinning again, turning around Tricerabot 3.0. Tricerabot 3.0 nearly drove into Sir Killalot, but quickly drove out of the CPZ before the House Robot could attack. Meanwhile, King of Diamonds had suddenly stopped moving after steering around Tricerabot 3.0, and Tricerabot 3.0 pushed it against the bottom arena wall.

"...and Tricerabot wisely goes into the pit trigger, which means somebody's going down, and unfortunately, King of Diamonds looks like the most likely recipient!"
— Stefan Frank
Tricerabot 3

King of Diamonds is pitted by Tricerabot 3.0

King of Diamonds regained a little movement, but could only turn into the wall, then limply drove along the wall, weakly turning back and forth near the pit release. Tricerabot 3.0 drove at King of Diamonds, but King of Diamonds turned against it as it rammed into it, turning it into the arena wall. Tricerabot 3.0 tried to push past, but King of Diamonds pushed against it. King of Diamonds turned back and forth, and Tricerabot 3.0 tried to push past, but then reversed into the arena wall. Tricerabot 3.0 drove away from the arena wall but found it difficult to turn because of the flipper lifting two of the wheels off the ground. It drove around King of Diamonds as it spun around on the spot, but as it tried to turn, it drifted towards Shunt in the CPZ, who hit the flipper with his axe and lifted Tricerabot 3.0 with his scoop. Shunt dropped Tricerabot 3.0, and it drove at King of Diamonds, but King of Diamonds turned to avoid Tricerabot 3.0, so Tricerabot 3.0 drove past, and turned around to try and use the flipper. King of Diamonds spun on the spot, slamming against the side of Tricerabot 3.0's flipper as it tried getting underneath, but then stopped moving again. This allowed Tricerabot 3.0 to easily get the flipper under the side and lift King of Diamonds up, then it began pushing towards the pit. Tricerabot 3.0 dropped King of Diamonds on the edge of the pit, then drove forwards for another charge, and rammed King of Diamonds into the pit.

Mick Foley: "Tricerabot, it looked to me like maybe your weapons weren't all that effective and it turned into a battle of strategy, and could it be your driving that was the key factor in victory?"
Mike Morrow: "Uh, that maybe, and a lot of luck, actually! The King is a solid brick, I think, of metal, and there was not way we could penetrate it."
Mick Foley: "Well you got the king into the pit, right?"
Mike Morrow: "Finally!"
— Post-battle interview
"Looks like we ended up in the Pit, Tricerabot went prehistoric on us."
— Dean Dubois

Therefore, Tricerabot 3.0 was through to the Heat Final. However, the flipper had to be repaired.

"The lifter was a mess- bent horribly, it dug into the ground even at the highest hardstop setting. Ron played trampoline on it with the robot upside down to get enough clearance to run. I think this was the point where we had the RW TIG welder guy weld in some titanium gusset plates to strengthen the assembly. Thank goodness I tossed some Ti6-4 TIG rod into the crate! The good news was the chassis (held together by several dozen bolts of various english, metric, fine thread, coarse thread sizes) was intact and undamaged! WOW, we might actually keep this thing together for the next match! Of course, the titanium drive modules were now holding everything together so we had to turn the robot over and remove all armor panels then turn it BACK over just to remove a motor or repair a drive coupler. So much for design for maintainability..."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[16]

In the Heat Final, Tricerabot 3.0 faced Brawler for the second time.

"Here we go for the final! This is make-or-break time for the Brawler and Tricerabot! Tricerabot with some supreme driving skills, and the Brawler definitely needs to get in this one!"
— Stefan Frank at the start of the battle
TricerabotapproachesBrawlerspinning

Tricerabot 3.0 approaches the spinning Brawler

Both robots charged to the middle of the arena, with Tricerabot 3.0 charging flipper first. Tricerabot 3.0 rammed into the side of Brawler, but Brawler bounced off and began spinning. Tricerabot 3.0 tried driving around, but Brawler hit its side. Tricerabot 3.0 drove around Brawler, with Brawler hitting the side again as it did so. Tricerabot 3.0 tried to drive under Brawler with its flipper, but Brawler was still spinning, preventing Tricerabot 3.0 from getting underneath, first hitting the side, then the flipper as it spun. Tricerabot 3.0 kept trying to get the flipper underneath, but Brawler hit the side as it spun, turning around Tricerabot 3.0, then drove down the arena. As it tried to spin again, Tricerabot 3.0 charged at it, but as it rammed into Brawler, it accidentally swerved close to Matilda's CPZ. Matilda came out of her CPZ to push Tricerabot 3.0, which quickly drove away, then drove around Brawler.

"Listen to those tyres squealing off of Tricerabot! That four-wheel drive is just positive traction! Tricerabot knows better to let Brawler get a good run at him, 'cause if that thing gets spinning, you never know, he's go a tyre puncturer!"
— Stefan Frank

Tricerabot 3.0 pushes Brawler against the Disc of Doom button

Tricerabot 3.0 turned to try and use the flipper, but Brawler drove into its side with its spear, so Tricerabot 3.0 drove past. Tricerabot 3.0 turned, and Brawler started spinning. Tricerabot 3.0 drove at Brawler, hitting the flipper with the hammer, then the side with the spear, in quick succession. This stopped Brawler's spinning, but before Tricerabot 3.0 could use the flipper, Brawler reversed away, driving past the front of Matilda. Tricerabot 3.0 chased after it, but as it did so, it drove into the front of Matilda, who had driven to the edge of her CPZ after Brawler had driven past her. Matilda pushed Tricerabot 3.0 back, and Tricerabot 3.0 reversed away. Brawler drove up the arena, and Tricerabot 3.0 chased after it, but as Tricerabot 3.0 got close, Brawler swung around, hitting the side with its hammer. Tricerabot 3.0 turned around as Brawler spun on the spot, and Tricerabot 3.0 rammed into Brawler, but Brawler bounced off. Tricerabot 3.0 kept chasing it, and Brawler drove away and started spinning again, but Tricerabot 3.0 drove into it, pushing it against the Disc of Doom button. Tricerabot 3.0 tried pushing Brawler, but drove over its hammer, allowing it to get away from the button and hit the side of Tricerabot 3.0 with the spear. However, Tricerabot 3.0 quickly turned around and got the flipper under Brawler, then pushed it up the arena.

"The Brawler has got to do something here, because it really feels like Tricerabot is gonna be dominating all the way through here! They've got the size, the power, the driving skill, not much in the weaponry, but look at that! Pulls him right up against the rail! Almost gets him out and over!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot 3.0 rams Brawler
Tricerabot v Brawler

Tricerabot 3.0 slams Brawler into the arena wall

As it rammed Brawler, it lifted it with the flipper, which caused it to overbalance, although it was still able to push Brawler with only two wheels on the floor, and got its four wheels on the floor just before it slammed Brawler into the middle arena entry gate, flipping it over. Brawler drove away from the wall and turned to face Tricerabot 3.0, which drove at it with the flipper, getting the flipper underneath. It tried pushing Brawler as it flipped it, but Brawler merely fell off the flipper. Brawler started spinning again, and Tricerabot 3.0 held back, reversing a little, but nearly drove into Matilda in her CPZ. Tricerabot 3.0 drove at Brawler as it stopped spinning, but Brawler drove down the arena. Tricerabot 3.0 kept close behind it and soon caught up, but as it tried getting the flipper underneath, Brawler spun, hitting the side with the hammer. Tricerabot 3.0 held back as Brawler spun on the spot, and when it slowed down, Tricerabot 3.0 drove at it, but drove into the hammer, driving over it.

"The winner of this is gonna go to the Grand Final, so these guys definitely know they've gotta win it to stay in it!"
— Stefan Frank

Tricerabot 3.0 rams Brawler to Shunt, but drives into him itself

Tricerabot 3.0 drove past Brawler, which started spinning again, then drove at its opponent, which hit the side of Tricerabot 3.0. As Brawler's spinning slowed down, Tricerabot 3.0 drove under it with its flipper and pushed it towards Shunt's CPZ. As it got close, Brawler slid off the flipper, causing Tricerabot 3.0 to drive into Shunt, but Tricerabot 3.0 quickly drove away, and Brawler was still in the CPZ. Brawler hit Shunt's snowplough with its spear, then quickly drove out of the CPZ before the House Robot could attack. Tricerabot 3.0 drove at it, and Brawler tried hitting the side with the hammer, but Tricerabot 3.0 got its flipper under the side and flipped Brawler over. Brawler drove up to the top of the arena, and Tricerabot 3.0 chased after it. Brawler and Tricerabot 3.0 drove close to one of the top CPZ, then Brawler turned and drove down the arena, driving to the Drop Zone where it started spinning. Tricerabot 3.0 chased after Brawler as it drove down the arena, but held back as Brawler started spinning, reversing.

"...the Brawler is just trying to stay out of trouble as best as possible, but Tricerabot is relentless!"

Tricerabot 3.0 flips Brawler over

Brawler paused for a moment, and Tricerabot 3.0 charged at it, but Brawler started spinning as Tricerabot 3.0 charged at it, hitting the side with its hammers, turning around Tricerabot 3.0 to dodge its charge. Tricerabot 3.0 turned, and although Brawler was spinning, Tricerabot 3.0 drove straight at it, getting underneath with the flipper. Tricerabot 3.0 flipped Brawler, but Brawler merely fell off the side. Brawler drove up the arena, and Tricerabot 3.0 chased after it. As Tricerabot 3.0 got close, Brawler turned, slamming the side of Tricerabot 3.0 with its spear, but Tricerabot 3.0 was unaffected, getting the flipper under the side, although it only managed to flick Brawler up a little as it was not fully underneath. Tricerabot 3.0 got under Brawler's spear, and turned, pushing Brawler back towards a flame jet, but as it lifted Brawler with the flipper, it made a wrong turn, driving onto the flame jet itself, so drove off it. Brawler drove towards Tricerabot 3.0 and started spinning, and Tricerabot 3.0 tried ramming into it, but Brawler hit the side of the flipper with the spear, turning to avoid it, and hit Tricerabot 3.0's side with the hammer.

"Tricerabot, using its weaponry and speed and driving ability to its maximum potential, as poor Brawler has been on the run for most of this round!"
— Stefan Frank
Tricerabot vs Brawler

Tricerabot 3.0 drops Brawler into the pit

Tricerabot 3.0 turned for another attack, but Brawler hit the side with the hammer, so Tricerabot 3.0 missed its charge. Tricerabot 3.0 nearly drove into Matilda's CPZ as it turned around for another attack, but quickly got out of the CPZ, charging at Brawler, but Brawler swerved to avoid Tricerabot 3.0 as it got close, causing Tricerabot 3.0 to miss its charge. Tricerabot 3.0 turned around, but instead of attacking Brawler, it drove down the arena and opened the pit. After hitting the button, it charged back up the arena, but as it charged at Brawler, Brawler turned out of the way and spun on the spot. Tricerabot 3.0 tried driving around it, but Brawler hit Tricerabot 3.0's side with the hammer, so Tricerabot 3.0 reversed and turned around, its front decorations falling loose as it did so. Tricerabot 3.0 waited until Brawler stopped spinning for a moment, then charged, but as it rammed into Brawler, Brawler turned. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed and turned for another charge, ramming into Brawler's side and pushing it up the arena, but Brawler turned, using its spear to push against Tricerabot 3.0's side. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed away, driving into the arena wall. It drove at Brawler, which swerved to avoid it. As Brawler tried to start spinning again, Tricerabot 3.0 drove around the side, and got at the side. This stopped Brawler's spinning, and with one concerted drive, Tricerabot 3.0 pushed straight into the pit.

"Look at the rail at the side of the wheels, it [Brawler] can’t get in anywhere, can’t get a puncture – goodbye! Look at that driving skill! Tricerabot, just dumps the Brawler in the hole!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot 3.0 pits Brawler

Therefore, Tricerabot 3.0 had won the Heat, and was through to the Grand Final.

Mick Foley: "Well actually, we were all back there saying "This guy is good!", I mean you're a force to be reckoned with! Too much power on the part of the robot Tricerabot, it seemed like for the Brawler, but also maybe your driving skills completely outclassed the Brawler!"
Mike Morrow: "Well you know, they were all over the place! They were really hard to keep up with, and that robot is indestructible! It's just solid metal, with no real places for us to get into and do any damage, and we flip 'em over? They keep driving! And flip 'em over and they keep driving! They have an amazing robot, and it's tough!"
Mick Foley: "So the only way to truly vanquish them was to open up the pit, and send them down to their doom?"
Mike Morrow: "The pit of oblivion is the only way to handle the situation!"
Mick Foley: "Any predictions for the final?"
Mike Morrow: "Uh, it's gonna be bloody!"
— Post-battle interview

In its Grand Final eliminator, Tricerabot 3.0 faced another newcomer, Rocky-Bot-Boa.

Carol Grow: "...you do have a tough robot {Rocky-Bot-Boa}, but Tricerabot, so do you. This is gonna be a great match!"
Mike Morrow: "We've seen some tough robots on the way up, and I think we're ready for him! He's got a stout, basically solid hunk of steel with wheels, but we're just gonna pound on him until something breaks."
— Pre-battle interview
Tricerabot vs Rocky-Bot-Boa

Tricerabot 3.0 lifts Rocky-Bot-Boa into the CPZ

Both robots charged towards each other in the opening seconds, with Rocky-Bot-Boa trying to drive around Tricerabot 3.0, but Tricerabot 3.0 got its flipper under the side of Rocky-Bot-Boa before it could drive around. Lifting it up a little, Tricerabot 3.0 rammed Rocky-Bot-Boa up the arena, into the wall. Tricerabot 3.0 turned and lowered the flipper, and pushed Rocky-Bot-Boa into Sgt. Bash's CPZ.

"Well, the strategy in this battle is just going to be ram, ram, ram, and that’s exactly what Tricerabot’s done from the beginning…"

Shunt axes Tricerabot

Tricerabot 3.0 kept Rocky-Bot-Boa pinned against the wall, then pushed it against Sgt. Bash, who gripped onto Rocky-Bot-Boa's side with his pincer. Tricerabot 3.0 got behind Rocky-Bot-Boa and pushed it from Sgt. Bash's grip, lifting it up with its flipper, and rammed it across the arena to the flame pit, where Rocky-Bot-Boa was flipped over.

"Rocky was literally a rectangle of heavy steel beams. Virtually impenetrable, my only hope was to flip him and confuse his sense of direction (hello Mr. Pit) and/or try to break some of his fragile motor mounts."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[17]
Shunt flips tricerabot

Shunt flips Tricerabot over

Tricerabot 3.0 drove onto the flame pit as it pushed, but quickly reversed off. Tricerabot 3.0 drove down the arena and hit the pit release button. Rocky-Bot-Boa drove into its side, but Tricerabot 3.0 turned around, and Rocky-Bot-Boa turned away. Rocky-Bot-Boa drove up the arena, driving over the flame pit, and Tricerabot 3.0 charged at, trying to get the flipper underneath, but Rocky-Bot-Boa turned around to get at Tricerabot 3.0's side, and rammed it up the arena. Tricerabot 3.0 struggled to get away, but Rocky-Bot-Boa kept pushing, ramming Tricerabot 3.0 into the middle arena entry gate. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed away, but drove into Sgt. Bash's CPZ. Tricerabot 3.0 turned around, getting its flipper at Sgt. Bash's side, and Rocky-Bot-Boa charged over to the CPZ, but instead of driving at Tricerabot 3.0, it slammed into Sgt. Bash's other side. Tricerabot 3.0 pushed against Sgt. Bash with its flipper, and Shunt came over to the CPZ, getting his axe in Tricerabot 3.0's top and pulled it out of the CPZ, then used his scoop to lift Tricerabot 3.0, flipping it over.

"Suddenly, 3:35 into the 5 minute match, Shunt came flying across the arena from his corner and landed a solid blow to our battery area. (Shunt's driver has a nasty habit of roaming the pits feeling the thickness and material of your armor and scouting those sensitive areas. Nice chap and I can't blame him- I'd do the same if I drove a housebot.) The blow pierced our armor and dented a battery connector, but didn't succeed in taking out either of our redundant electrical systems. But, a lucky Shunt kick from the plow ended up tossing us upside down. DOH!"
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[18]
Rocky-Bot-Boa vs Tricerabot

Tricerabot 3.0 is pushed over the flame pit

Tricerabot 3.0 reversed, then drove forwards, and Rocky-Bot-Boa drove into its side. Rocky-Bot-Boa rammed Tricerabot 3.0 onto the flame pit. Tricerabot 3.0 drove off, with some of its decorations having caught fire, but Rocky-Bot-Boa was right behind it. Tricerabot 3.0 was able to turn as Rocky-Bot-Boa tried pushing it, preventing Rocky-Bot-Boa from pushing it into the pit, but Rocky-Bot-Boa kept pushing, forcing Tricerabot 3.0 over a flame jet and into an angle grinder, though as it pushed Tricerabot 3.0 into the angle grinder, it drove onto the flame jet itself. Rocky-Bot-Boa reversed, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove off of the angle grinder, but stopped on the flame jet.

"Although we are invertable, that doesn't mean we like to be inverted. On the underside you can notice several things. First, no radio antennae are sticking up- this hurts range. Second, the robot has a blue underbelly.....a sign of our heritage. ;) Third, there are green kapton tape strips across the armor seams. This is to seal off small gaps to prevent fire from breaching the overall armor shell. It's not the heat that gets you, it's the secondary fire. As some may recall, we lost the decorative hood near the end of the previous match against Brawler. To be sure it stayed on a little better, we put a little more tape on this time.....too much. The break-away hood didn't, and now we had a highly flammable pile of garbage along for the ride underneath the robot. Several trips to the flame jets later, our quest for fire was answered with a raging underbelly inferno. But the worst was yet to come. The fire proceeded to enter the body at the puncture spots that shunt gave us earlier. One it reached the batteries, we had a serious plastic fire ensue, burning one battery on each of our electrical systems. For the first time in history, we were in a situation where we might become a KO victim."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[19]

Rocky-Bot-Boa drove back at Tricerabot 3.0, pushing it against the wall, then turned and drove away from the wall. Tricerabot 3.0 drove away from the wall, but Rocky-Bot-Boa pushed against its side and rammed Tricerabot 3.0 up the arena.

"...and Tricerabot's got a little power of his own! If this one has to go down to the Judges, it's gonna be a tough one to separate these guys. They've been in full battle mode from the very beginning!"
— Stefan Frank
ShuntTricerabot

Shunt axes a flaming Tricerabot 3.0

Rocky-Bot-Boa rammed the limping Tricerabot 3.0 to the top of the arena, then pushed it along to an empty CPZ, as it weakly tried to get away. Rocky-Bot-Boa pushed Tricerabot 3.0 pushed against the wall, and Shunt came into the CPZ, hitting Tricerabot 3.0's top with his axe. Tricerabot 3.0 slowly drove out of the CPZ, driving down the arena. Rocky-Bot-Boa charged after it, but missed its charge and drove into an angle grinder. Time ran out, and the battle went to a judges decision.

"All the redundancy paid off, as we maintained limited mobility to the end of the match. Near the end, with barely enough power to move, let alone turn, I headed to the safest place in the arena for a dying bot- the small area between the pit and the closest arena wall. The TV match is "ceased" as I'm heading towards the pit. The actual match went on for another 30-45 seconds as I parallel parked the still-burning TriceraBot 3.0 up against the wall with my right side facing the pit only a few feet away. I figured this would be a risky place for Rocky to try to pry me off and into the pit."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[20]

The decision was very close, with the Judges requiring a replay of the entire battle[21], but they ruled in favour of Tricerabot 3.0. However, Tricerabot 3.0 had received damage to its internals from the fire, and wasn't able to drive out of the arena properly.

"Damage with any uncontrolled fire event is severe. In this case we had a total meltdown of two of our custom Battlepacks. Our voltwatches burned to a crisp but continue to function to this day. Thanks to the Binghams for a great bout. After the match during load-out Douan helped me maintain my dignity by using Rocky to help TriceraBot 3.0 limp off the field (I could drive forward but no turns). Thanks to him, I'm proud to say I've never been hauled off the arena floor by Refbot."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[22]

In a part not included in the televised battle, Rocky-Bot-Boa's chainsaw became caught under one of the arena entry gates, but it was freed by a House Robot.

"It started out as the standard slam and bam. At one point (not shown on TV) his chainsaw wedged under the load-in gate. I backed up across the arena to prepare for a full-speed body slam, but one of the house bots decided to help him free first. Game on! "
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[23]

In the Semi-Finals, Tricerabot 3.0 faced The Falcon Mark 2, with all of its flammable materials removed to guarantee its reliability for the remaining rounds.

"FINALLY- a non-invertable opponent! We didn't think his plate armor was too strong, although it held up to lots of abuse from Propellerhead. The plan was to bury spikes deep into him and/or flip him over."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[24]

Tricerabot 3.0 rams The Falcon Mark 2

Tricerabot 3.0 charged straight at The Falcon Mark 2, getting underneath with its lifter, but The Falcon Mark 2 turned as Tricerabot 3.0 tried to push, causing Tricerabot 3.0 to drive past it. The Falcon Mark 2 reversed into Tricerabot 3.0 with its rear spikes, but Tricerabot 3.0 turned around and got at The Falcon Mark 2's side and pushed. Tricerabot 3.0 tried to lift The Falcon Mark 2, but The Falcon Mark 2 turned, so when Tricerabot 3.0 fired the flipper, it slipped off. Tricerabot 3.0 kept pushing, but The Falcon Mark 2 turned away. Tricerabot 3.0 tried to drive at the side of The Falcon Mark 2, but The Falcon Mark 2 drove around Tricerabot 3.0. Both robots turned to face each other, and The Falcon Mark 2 drove at Tricerabot 3.0, but instead of getting its flipper underneath, it drove onto Tricerabot 3.0's flipper, and Tricerabot 3.0 rammed it and lifted so it was hanging on the top. Tricerabot 3.0 rammed The Falcon Mark 2 down the arena, into the arena wall by the pit release button. As it did so, Tricerabot 3.0 hit the pit release button.

"Falcon's only really got that wedge and a lifting arm for any kind of strategy, but Tricerabot has got some awesome pushing power, which its putting to good use right now! As it slams right into the rail, hits the pit trigger! Great bit of driving by Tricerabot!"
— Stefan Frank as Tricerabot 3.0 rams The Falcon Mark 2

The Falcon Mark 2 was still hanging off Tricerabot 3.0's side, so Tricerabot 3.0 turned tried to push its opponent to the pit as it opened, but The Falcon Mark 2 managed to get off of Tricerabot 3.0 before it could be pitted, and escaped up the arena. This moment was edited out of the televised battle.

"I dragged him to the pit button, hoping to control him all the way to a drop. But, as had happened many times this event, luck and general stubbornness was on Falcon's side. He evaded and attacked and evaded."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[25]

Tricerabot 3.0 pins The Falcon Mark 2 against the wall

Tricerabot 3.0 rammed The Falcon Mark 2, getting the lifter under the back but The Falcon Mark 2 slid off. The Falcon Mark 2 drove up to the top of the arena, and Tricerabot 3.0 charged into the side, getting the lifter underneath and pushing The Falcon Mark 2 against the top arena wall, just outside Matilda's CPZ. Matilda came to the edge of her CPZ, and Shunt came over to the CPZ, so Tricerabot 3.0 dropped The Falcon Mark 2 and drove away as Matilda lifted The Falcon Mark 2 with her tusks and Shunt axed it a couple of times. Matilda dropped The Falcon Mark 2 and The Falcon Mark 2 drove away from the CPZ, then charged down the arena at Tricerabot 3.0, which was waiting for it by the flame pit. As it got close, Tricerabot 3.0 rammed into it, but failed to get any pushing advantage.

"We began to realize that our lifter was bent yet again, so we had to revert back to the lift/drive/lower/attack mode. Although we hadn't really done any noticeable damage to him, he did begin to slow. It looked to me like he was starting to lose one side of his drive system, so I went in for the kill."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[26]

Tricerabot 3.0 tries to pit The Falcon Mark 2

It turned away, but drove onto the flame pit, so reversed, despite The Falcon Mark 2's effort to block it. Tricerabot 3.0 drove to the bottom of the arena, then drove back at The Falcon Mark 2, which turned to face it, trying to get the flipper underneath. Tricerabot 3.0 got around to the side of The Falcon Mark, but couldn't push very far. It reversed and tried again, but only managed to push it a little. The Falcon Mark 2 was slowing, and Tricerabot 3.0 eventually managed to push it close to the pit. Tricerabot 3.0 drove to the back of The Falcon Mark 2 and tried to ram it into the pit, but couldn't push it far enough. As Tricerabot 3.0 reversed for another charge, The Falcon Mark 2 weakly reversed, past the edge of the pit.

"Tricerabot with the spikes now, right into the side of Falcon. The audience is saying "Pit!", he's lined up for it! Tricerabot's at the right place, at the right time! Falcon's trying to back out of harms way!"
— Stefan Frank

The Falcon Mark 2 on top of Tricerabot 3.0

Tricerabot 3.0 drove into the side and pushed, but reversed. The Falcon Mark 2 reversed away from the pit, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove around it, getting at the side and pushed it, but The Falcon Mark 2 reversed. Tricerabot 3.0 stopped pushing, reversed, and tried to drive behind The Falcon Mark 2. It drove into the bottom arena wall, and The Falcon Mark 2 moved forwards. Tricerabot 3.0 charged into the back of The Falcon Mark 2, but it turned around. Tricerabot 3.0 turned around to use its lifter, and drove into the side of The Falcon Mark 2, getting under the side and lifting The Falcon Mark 2 up. However, as Tricerabot 3.0 tried turning The Falcon Mark 2 around, it slid over the side of the flipper so it was hanging off of Tricerabot 3.0's wheels, preventing Tricerabot 3.0 from pushing it into the pit.

"...the little bugger was determined to go down fighting and everytime I'd start a run to the pit with a Falcon hood ornament, he'd twist out of it. I tried multiple runs, multiple angles, but each time he'd floor it and spin off my push. Finally cease was called and it went to the judges."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[27]

Tricerabot 3.0 drove around in a circle to try and cause The Falcon Mark 2 to fall off, but this didn't work, so it drove back and forth, then reversed, which shook The Falcon Mark 2 off the side. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed up the arena, and time ran out. Again, the battle went to a judges’ decision.

"So as the Judges try to make up their minds about this one, let's just take a look, and see how dominant Tricerabot was! They were taking their full motor power and pulling Falcon all the way across the arena, from one side to the other! Falcon had some major troubles, the driving ability of Tricerabot opened the pit, but couldn't quite get Falcon down it!"
— Stefan Frank reviews the highlights

The Judges' voted in favour of Tricerabot 3.0, putting it through to the Grand Final.

"Damage, style, control, aggression. Not much damage this match, and at least for me, all of TriceraBot's visual style was lost in the great Rocky fire (that's why it's basically a charred flat brick for these last two matches). But control was all ours baby, and we probably had the better part of aggression. The decision went in our favor and we were on to face the reigning US champ Panzer. As for repairs, not too much to worry about. I don't think Falcon had much serious damage, and we just had to spruce up our motors since full-length matches are always a bit strenuous. The weapon was bent a bit, but we decided to just flip it over for our last match. It would be hard on the chassis since the weapon would overtravel into the upper hardstop, but it only had to last one more match...."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[28]

There, Tricerabot 3.0 faced the reigning champion Panzer Mk 4.

Carol Grow: "What’s your strategy? What are you going to do to the US grand champs to get that title away from them?"
Mike Morrow: "Everything we can, that’s a formidable robot and I think we’re just gonna have to pound on them as hard as they gonna pound on us."
Carol Grow: "Are you confident that your robot's ready to go, do you think there's any glitches?"
Mike Morrow: "It's held together this far, I think it'll make it through one more round!"

Panzer Mk 4 rams Tricerabot 3.0 into Sgt. Bash's CPZ

At the start of the battle, the two robots charged straight at each other. This impact caused an airline in the main pressure tank in Tricerabot to come loose, causing the CO2 to leak[29], leaving Tricerabot without a flipper.

"The battle commenced as a final should- both robots accelerated full-tilt and met mid-arena with a resounding crash that you could feel in your chest. 437lbs at 30+mph closure speed, you do the math..... It was one of the most awesome impacts I've seen. We tangled and tussled, each of us getting to the other's side and shoving. Early on we got the weapon under him a couple times. By the second time I yelled for Ron to fire the !@#$%&* weapon! He said he had been trying. The last thing I wanted to hear was his next statement: "I got nothin'". *sigh* So be it- this will be a battle of rammers."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[30]

Panzer Mk 4 turned, then reversed, then drove at Tricerabot 3.0 as it turned around, but Tricerabot 3.0 dodged it. The two robots turned to face each other, and the two drove at each other, with Tricerabot 3.0 trying to get at Panzer Mk 4's side, but Panzer Mk 4 turned as Tricerabot 3.0 pushed, allowing it to get at Tricerabot 3.0's side, and ram it into the arena wall by Sgt. Bash's CPZ. On impact, Tricerabot 3.0 was pushed up onto Panzer Mk 4's top, but it fell off as Panzer Mk 4 reversed.

Panzer almost tips over

Tricerabot 3.0 almost flips Panzer Mk 4

Tricerabot 3.0 got its spikes at Panzer Mk 4's side, but Panzer Mk 4 drove away. Tricerabot 3.0 chased after it, but as it got close, Panzer Mk 4 turned to face it and reversed. Panzer Mk 4 then rammed into Tricerabot 3.0, getting under the side and ramming it across the arena, slamming it against an angle grinder. This left Tricerabot 3.0 leaning against the angle grinder, but Panzer Mk 4 slammed into it, knocking it back to the arena floor. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed, but drove into Shunt in his CPZ. It got away for the House Robot could attack, then chased after Panzer Mk 4, catching up with it at the top of the arena, close to Sgt. Bash. Tricerabot 3.0 charged at its opponent with its flipper, getting underneath and pushing it against the top arena wall. Panzer Mk 4 fell over the side of Tricerabot 3.0, falling onto its side, where it briefly balanced, but then fell onto its wheels.

"Tricerabot, for a moment, had Panzer up on two wheels, which would have been devastating for Panzer, who's not an invertible bot like Tricerabot!"

Tricerabot 3.0 gets under Panzer Mk 4

Tricerabot 3.0 drove at it as it fell, getting its lifter underneath and pushing it against the top arena wall. Tricerabot 3.0 turned and tried pushing Panzer Mk 4 to Shunt's CPZ, but Panzer Mk 4 drove over Tricerabot 3.0 to get away. Tricerabot 3.0 turned and drove after Panzer Mk 4, trying to drive at its side, but Panzer Mk 4 reversed. Tricerabot 3.0 drove at Panzer Mk 4's front, but Panzer Mk 4 lowered its flipper and pushed Tricerabot 3.0, so Tricerabot 3.0 reversed. Tricerabot 3.0 drove around Panzer Mk 4, bumping into its front scoop as it did so, then turned and reversed for a charge at Panzer Mk 4. As it did so, Panzer Mk 4 drove over the disc of doom, and briefly became stuck as its lifter was in the closed position. As Tricerabot 3.0 charged at it, Panzer Mk 4 managed to drive forwards, but it charged straight into the arena wall, and Tricerabot 3.0 got under it with its lifter, getting Panzer Mk 4 on top of it as it reversed away from the wall.

"These guys [Panzer Mk 4], if they get stuck upside-down, they're staying that way! And Tricerabot knows it, as they're trying to get that wedge right underneath Panzer again!"

Panzer Mk 4 rams Tricerabot 3.0 against the arena wall

Tricerabot 3.0 reversed over a flame jet, and Panzer Mk 4 drove off of Tricerabot 3.0's top. Tricerabot 3.0 drove at Panzer Mk 4's front, but the scoop got under Tricerabot 3.0's ground clearance, preventing it from ramming. Panzer Mk 4 reversed for a charge, then rammed into Tricerabot 3.0 again, getting underneath and ramming Tricerabot 3.0 into the bottom arena wall. Panzer Mk 4 pushed Tricerabot 3.0 up against the wall, but as Sgt. Bash drove down the arena to the CPZ, Panzer Mk 4 reversed away.

"What a battle this is for a Final! You can hear the tyres screeching, and the metal mashing, as Panzer plows Tricerabot into the side, and Bash gets in on the action!"

Tricerabot 3.0 gets axed after driving too close to Shunt

Tricerabot 3.0 tried to get out of the CPZ, but drove straight into Sgt. Bash, who blocked it from getting out of the CPZ, then blocked it from attacking Panzer Mk 4, which was just outside of the CPZ, turning between the two robots as they tried to attack each other and firing his flamethrower. The two competitors reversed, with Tricerabot 3.0 bumping into the bottom arena wall. Tricerabot 3.0 drove around Sgt. Bash and chased after Panzer Mk 4, but Panzer Mk 4 drove past as it did so. The two robots turned around and charged at each other, but Tricerabot 3.0 rode up Panzer Mk 4's scoop, then fell over the side. Panzer Mk 4 turned around as Tricerabot 3.0 drove at it with the lifter, but Panzer Mk 4 pushed it up the arena until Tricerabot 3.0 reversed away. As Panzer Mk 4 drove after it, Tricerabot 3.0 drove forwards and turned around, but as it did so, it drove into Shunt, who axed its flipper. Panzer Mk 4 rammed into Tricerabot 3.0, pushing it against Shunt's scoop.

"Both of these teams, plenty hungry to win this one! Panzer got Tricerabot into Shunt's Corner Patrol Zone, Shunt trying to bury the axe, unfortunately Tricerabot got out of the way!"

Shunt tried to axe Tricerabot 3.0 again, but Tricerabot 3.0 reversed, causing Shunt to miss. Tricerabot 3.0 tried to drive away from Shunt, but as it drove past, Shunt fired the axe, hitting Tricerabot 3.0's top. Tricerabot 3.0 reversed, then drove at Panzer Mk 4, but drove up its scoop, and Panzer Mk 4 pushed it against the wall. Panzer Mk 4 reversed, and Tricerabot 3.0 drove away across to the other side of the arena. Panzer Mk 4 cautiously drove across the arena after it, as Tricerabot 3.0 drove up the arena, then turned and drove down to the middle of the arena. Panzer Mk 4 then rammed into Tricerabot 3.0, getting underneath and ramming it into the disc of doom button. This knocked Tricerabot 3.0 against the button, leaving it stuck, leaning against it. As the battle went into the last 10 seconds, Panzer Mk 4 took a long run up and rammed into Tricerabot 3.0, pushing it off the disc of doom button. Tricerabot 3.0 drove up the arena, but drove into Sgt. Bash. Time ran out, and the battle went to the Judges.

"In all, it was a grueling match- an epic war of the power rammers. When cease was called, it was pretty apparent that the victory and the title belonged to him. He earned it."
— Mike Morrow on the Robot Wars Forum[31]

However, it lost the decision to Panzer Mk 4, and thus finished runner-up in the US Championship.

Mick Foley: "Tricerabot, you guys have been through the wringer, been through some very tough matches, do you think possibly, especially your match with Rocky-Bot-Boa may have taken the life out of your machine?"
Mike Morrow: "I think we are paying for some of the damage we've accumulated working our way to this point, but I wanna congratulate these guys! They have an amazing robot, he's an amazing driver, there's a reason why Panzer is the second time Champ!"
Mick Foley: "Indeed, but remember - you were the guys that took out the Falcon, and for that alone, you will always be champions in my book! I HATE those guys!"

Juggerbot

The original Juggerbot

Juggerbot1Robotica

The original Juggerbot at Robotica

Team Juggerbot also competed in Robotica Season 1 with the original Juggerbot[32]. Juggerbot was drawn against Noll], however Noll broke down fairly early in the Speedway, forcing it to withdraw, so Juggerbot did the Maze and the Gauntlet alone. It went through to the Fight to the Finish against Hamerschlag, where it managed to push its opponent over the edge to win.

In the Grand Final, it beat Viper at the Speedway, Maze and Gauntlet, scoring exactly twice as many points as its opponent to progress to the Final Fight to the Finish against Ram Force and Run Amok. However, it drove over the edge whilst trying to drive away from Ram Force, which was pushing it. Ram Force ultimately lost to Run Amok[33].

Juggerbot 3.0 in Robotica

Tricerabot 3.0 later competed in Robotica Season 3 as Juggerbot 3.0, where it outscored Denominator in the Gauntlet and Labyrinth stages before beating Da Claw in the Fight to the Finish[34]. Da Claw had actually defeated Chris Gattman's Logoseye to reach the Fight to the Finish, so Logoseye had beaten Da Claw, the two entries of Team Juggerbot would have fought each other.

In the Grand Final, Juggerbot 3.0 tied with Jawbreaker’s Revenge in the Gauntlet[35] and beat Ultra-Violence in the Labyrinth[36] to advance to the final Fight to the Finish, where it lost to Panzer Mk 3[37].

Juggerbot sf01

Team Juggerbot would also compete in Season 3.0 of BattleBots with JuggerBot, a six-wheeled superheavyweight armed with front and rear spikes. It beat Neptune in the first round, but lost to eventual champions Vladiator in the second round, so Vladiators proceeded to the TV rounds, but JuggerBot did not.

Tricerabot also competed in Steel Conflict 4 as JuggerBot 3.1[38], with minor changes such as a different paint job. It lost in the first round to Cyclonebot.

Trivia[]

  • The Season 1 version of Tricerabot is considered to be Juggerbot 2.0, as it was the second version of Juggerbot built after Rosie the Riveter, which itself is a renamed and cosmetically-altered Juggerbot 1.0.
  • Tricerabot was the first competitor robot to overturn Matilda after her chainsaw was replaced with the flywheel, doing so twice during Extreme Warriors Season 1. This feat was later repeated by Apollo during Series 8.
  • In Extreme Warriors Season 2, Team Duct Tape lent Tricerabot 3.0 some motors from Unibite 2.0 after it was eliminated, and in return, Team JuggerBot gave Jerome Miles a Team JuggerBot jacket as payment, and after the series was over, rebuilt and improved the motors[39].
  • While entering the arena for the title battle of Season 2, Tricerabot 3.0 was introduced as Panzer Mk 4, and vice versa.
  • The Extreme Warriors Season 2 Grand Final battle between Panzer Mk 4 and Tricerabot 3.0 was a rematch of the Robotica Season 3 Final Fight to the Finish. Panzer Mk won both times to become champions.
  • In 2003, Tricerabot received an Honorable Mention in The Combat Robot Hall of Fame, in recognition of its Season 2 performance as Tricerabot 3.0 and its performances in Robotica as Juggerbot.[40]
