Twinkle-Twinkle was a competitor robot which attempted to enter Series 6 of Robot Wars. It failed to qualify for its only series and was succeeded by ThundeRing.
Design[]
- "In 2002, Team Dark Star entered its first robot, called Twinkle-Twinkle, for Robot Wars Series 6. The robot’s design was conventional, basically comprising a low, rectangular, box-shaped body housing a horizontal spinning weapon. During our qualifying bout we were eliminated by opponents sporting spinning weapons, flippers and axes."
- — Team Dark Star website on Twinkle-Twinkle[1]
Twinkle-Twinkle was a conventional box-shaped robot, low in stature, armed with a horizontal spinning weapon.
Etymology[]
Twinkle-Twinkle is named after the nursery rhyme. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.
Qualification[]
Twinkle-Twinkle fought against three unknown opponents armed with a spinning weapon, an axe and a flipper. It is unknown who won the qualifier, but Twinkle-Twinkle was quoted as to have been "trashed" and lost the fight, despite this the battle proved helpful for the team when making their next machine ThundeRing.
- "Following this thrashing the Team was faced with a dilemma; admit defeat and retire from robot building or design a new robot that would laugh-in-the-face of its opponent, irrespective of their design and weapon system, before dispatching them to robot Valhalla. Naturally, we chose the latter."
