Ugo Francica Nava is an Italian journalist and television presenter who served as commentator for the Italian dub of Robot Wars: Extreme and The Fifth Wars, following its move to Italian channel La7.
Robot Wars[]
For the Italian dub of Robot Wars, much like his predecessor Guido Bagatta, Francica Nava's role within the show was to commentate over fights and recaps.
He never made a physical appearance on the show, with presenter Andrea Lucchetta filling in with segments between battles.
Outside Robot Wars[]
Beyond Robot Wars, Francica Nava has established himself in several different fields of media work. Among his roles include editing for Italian newspaper La Sicilia, writing about cars for La7 Motori.
Outside of sport, he hosted the docu-drama Vivo per Miracolo from 2009 to 2010, where he interviewed people who have survived extreme situations. He also lent his voice to an Italian dub of National Geographic's Wild Nature series.[1]
Francica Nava has also presented and commentated various sports programmes dedicated to Italy's Six Nations rugby coverage, as well as that of Serie A football and the NBA.
Trivia[]
- Ugo's commentary during recaps was almost a word-for-word translation of Jonathan Pearce's original commentary, albeit localised for its intended audience, one example was during the rundown of the Extreme 1 Annihilator competitors in Episode 7. During the the rundown of Thermidor 2's route to the Annihilator, Jonathan originally said "Watch for the lobster" while Ugo said "Pay attention to the lobster".
