Robot Wars Wiki

Greetings everyone, and welcome to my first ever blog post for the Wiki, and today I'm taking a look at the most controversial seed in all of Robot Wars 7, Ming Dienasty's seeding at Number 15. This is the most head-scratching seeding in all of the Wars, especially when you consider Ming's track record. Round 1 in the Heats, Round 2, Round 1, Round 2. Yet it somehow gets the seed over robots that reached the heat final? Rubbish! And today I'm going to look at replacing this seeding with other robots more deserving of the seeding, and how the Wars is affected, to both the new seed and Ming.

== Disc-O-Inferno ==[]

Disc-o-inferno

"Hi there. I'm the Seventh Wars' substitute for Hypno-Disc."

Let's face it, this one was BOUND to be on the list, and with good reason. An annihilator champion AND Series 6 heat finalist? Seeding should have been inevitable, yet for some reason it wasn't. But now let us assume it does get this seed. What will happen?

In Heat M (Disc-O-Inferno's heat as the Wars went): If we replace Disc-O with Ming, honestly nothing changes here. If anything, victory for Tough as Nails and Robochicken is far easier.

In Heat H, with Disc-O-Inferno as the new seed: Disc-O vs Metalis vs Scraptosaur vs Ceros... to be honest, I'm eliminating Metalis (as Ming had no part in their elimination) and Ceros. That's right, the heat finalist is going out. Why? Because it's armour is quite fragile and Disc-O-Inferno has proven its worth before at destroying robots like Spirit of Knightmare, Tridentate and Derek 2. So our seed moves into Round 2 against Revolution 3, and again I must say that assuming mechanical failure doesn't plague the seed, Disc-O-Inferno will smash them up. So it's Heat Final time, St Agro vs Disc-O-Inferno. This is too close for me to call. Sure, St Agro can easily get in underneath Disc-O's high ground clearance, but then again if Disc-O drives well it can get at St Agro's exposed wheels. So if Disc-O loses, things go the exact same, but if it wins....things go the exact same. Sorry Disc-O, but X-Terminators disc is too deadly to ignore.

== Hydra ==[]

Hydra 7

Hammer-time or lifter-time? Why not both?

Sixth Wars heat finalist and runner-up in Tag Team Terror competition are my reasons for seeding Hydra here, so let's see what happens.

In Heat D: Again, Ming goes out in the first round, and would probably make that fight shorter since it'll be much easier for Gravity to toss out like a leaf in the wind

In Heat H: New seed Hydra might have trouble here to be honest. Weak self-righting and weak weapons make it hard for me to say Hydra will get through >50% of the time. If it does, then it beats Revolution 3 quite easily then loses to St Agro

== Tiberius 3 ==[]

Tiberius S7

"I'm the Seventh Wars' Razer"

Might have gone out in Round 1 of the last wars, but it is University Champion, so that's good enough for me to seed it

In Heat A: This is where things get interesting since Tiberius got through Round 1. Honestly I wouldn't say the same for Ming for the same reasons against Gravity. High ground clearance for M2 to get at. But that means Vader gets through to fight Roobarb, who I honestly would say lose due to Roobarb's armour being rubbish. Then the heat goes the same as M2 would win against Vader, but it is food for thought...

In Heat H: Again things would be interesting. If Tiberius is driven well enough it can avoid those 2 flippers in there and probably eliminate whoever he pleases. If they choose Scraptosaur, then I have no idea who'd face St Agro. Probably Tiberius, who would lose, but still, quite interesting

== Supernova ==[]

Supernova7

"What was that Disc-O? Sorry, I'M the Hypno-Disc around here"

A heat finalist (again) and would go on to be the runner up of the World Championship proves to me that Supernova deserved seeding.

In Heat I: Ming AGAIN goes in Round 1. Storm 2 would mop them right up, much to my dismay

In Heat H: Most likely the exact thing I said about Disc-O happens here, although Supernova may want to smash them all up for good measure. This puts it through to Round 2, smashes up Revolution and into the Heat Final it goes. And unlike Disc-O, I feel victory is almost always Supernova's, since it's not got so high a ground clearance, and better drivers. So into the Semi-Finals against X-Terminator, and honestly this would be close. Both are good drivers, and Supernova could get behind X-T, but X-T can just as easily get at Supernova's side. So say Supernova wins, it goes to face Bulldog Breed, where it would probably lose if I'm honest. So if Supernova loses, Bulldog Breed goes through to the Grand Final where I believe if they drive good enough they can beat Typhoon 2, and hold a dogged (no pun intended) fight against Storm 2 and maybe win, though not by much. But if Supernova wins, then it faces Typhoon 2, and would maybe win, but more likely lose. Then Supernova goes up against Tornado and loses. All in all, had Supernova been the number 15 seed, the whole Seventh Wars changes.

And there you go, the most likely candidates to be the 15th seed, and what changes as a result. Hope you enjoyed, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
