A quick update to let you all know about FightFest 2024, which will be happening later this month over the August bank holiday weekend (Aug 24-26) in Rotherham, Sheffield!
FightFest is a yearly Featherweight competition, filling the role of the FRA Championship 2024, and is open to the public for the first time as a spectator event. There will be on-site commentators, including our very own NJGW while the action unfolds in the full combat arena at Magna Science Centre.
I'll be among the competing robots with my featherweight Euphoria and will be throwing hands with Robot Wars veterans and featherweight circuit legends alike. Robots from the likes of Team Shock, Team Toon and even Team Terror Turtle will be competing, while modern-day legends like Slice of LiFe and the reigning champion Nitro will show what a modern featherweight spinner can do!
There will also be the Hobbyweight Championship, to showcase what the new world of 6.4kg (12lb) robots can do, and this will be their second ever championship.
Check out the trailer with some highlights of last year's show!
This will be the first time Magna Science Centre has hosted a robot combat competition since the live circuit of the 2000's, and if you've never seen a featherweight full combat competition before, this is the ideal way to see it unfold - and you can cheer for me to win, of course!
We'll also have the replica house robots by Jamie McHarg and Calum Jones present, including Shunt, Dead Metal and Growler.
