Vortex Inducer was a uniquely designed competitor from the second series of Dutch Robot Wars. It lost its only battle against Scarab after failing to move at all, and was ultimately snapped in half by Sir Killalot. The team had previously fought in Dutch Series 1 with Pathetica.
Design
Vortex Inducer was a wedge-shaped robot which featured a novel spinning disc attached to a moveable arm, which could allow the disc to be raised or rotated into a horizontal or vertical position. It initially featured tracks as its primary method of propulsion, but the treads had to be removed as they put Vortex Inducer over the weight limit, with the robot relying on its guiding wheels for locomotion. However, this severely hampered Vortex Inducer's traction in the arena, where it was barely able to move and was eliminated after showing very little mobility in its only battle, despite its interesting weapon configuration.
Robot History
Dutch Series 2
Vortex Inducer was drawn against the shufflebot Scarab in the first round of Heat E.
Vortex Inducer's disc was spinning, but both machines lurched forward at such a slow pace that the House Robots chose to push the machines together. When the two competitors made contact, Scarab used its pincers to stop Vortex Inducer's spinning disc, and it became evident that Vortex Inducer had become immobilised, so it was counted out by Refbot. Sir Killalot came in, seized Vortex Inducer with his jaws and picked it up before snapping the thin axle holding the robot together, essentially cutting it in half. Both pieces of Vortex Inducer were pushed onto the Floor Flipper by Sergeant Bash and tossed through the air, before having an oven dropped onto them and the largest part of Vortex Inducer picked up and dumped out of the arena by Sir Killalot.

Trivia
- Vortex Inducer was the only competitor in Robot Wars to use a spinning blade capable of changing orientations, and by being mounted on a moving arm, somewhat piloted the idea of the overhead spinner used by the likes of Vulture and BattleBots competitors SawBlaze and Skorpios.
